Kendrick Better This Time; Youman and Ennis Dropped

From the scattered press notes Saturday while watching Temple/St. Joe’s and eating sushi:

  • Kyle Kendrick went four innings and gave up two runs in a Minor League game today.

Good sign. It was his first solid start since his very first start of the spring. I’m still not worried about the kid, but it’s nice to see him be Kendrickian and not Eatonian.

  • The Phillies optioned Shane Youman and re-assigned John Ennis to Minor League camp.

Ennis has no options remaining, but he’s not on the 40-man roster, so he’s not going to waivers. Youman — who is on his final option — is the first major casualty of the bullpen races, with the lefty battle coming down to Vic Darensbourg, Fabio Castro and Travis Blackley.
