Nickname The Phillie: Kyle Kendrick – Phillies Nation

Nickname The Phillie: Kyle Kendrick

The Phillies have some fantastic nicknames. There’s The Bat (Pat Burrell), Hollywood (Cole Hamels), Lights Out (Brad Lidge), Chooch (Carlos Ruiz) and of course, the Flyin’ Hawaiian (Shane Victorino). But not everyone has a nickname, and we need to help.

An off-hand conversation about Chad Durbin brought upon the nickname “Dim the Lights,” which I think is a worthy moniker for the man. That’s why I think we here at the Nation need to do more of the same. This week I’m opening a feature called “Nickname the Phillie,” where you guys can determine the nickname of select Phils.

Yesterday I threw Jayson Werth out there, and we have a few finalists for him. Today we start on a new Phillie — Kyle Kendrick. The good-enough sinkerballing youngster has been a nice addition to the club over the past year. Some call him “KK,” but that’s not good enough. The kid needs a real nickname. Go at it.

He’s always been “the Kid” to me, but I can see how that’s a little too pedestrian. How about Kobayashi?

I thought it was bizzare that on that Goosebumps dvd, according to J-Roll apparently his nickname in the locker room is “Crazy K.”

It has to be The Kid – no doubt about it.

“Krazy K” is a cool nickname. Why change it?

  14. Geoff

    July 8, 2008 at 4:27 pm

    “Special K”

However, he has to win 15 games to be called that though.

As soon as I read, “nickname” Kendrick… “THE KID” came to mind… so I think maybe they already call him that… or maybe Larry Anderson calls him that or something. but thats my vote

Im pretty sure his teammates call him crazy k, thats good enough.

  17. Mike T.

“Crazy K” is just ridiculous, and “Special K” is already the name of a low-fat cereal and a dissociative anesthetic drug.

I like Krazy K and have used it on my blog. Two other ones we have used is “Hit Parade” for Clay Condrey and “Doc Windgate” for R.J. Swindle.

As a Met fan I am disgusted that Cole Hamels did not make the all-star team. That is f*ckin ridiculous. He pitches with a 3.28 ERA in a little league field basically and he gets no respect. I don’t know about you phillies fans, that is terrible.

    Nero.

Because as the Phillies go down in flames, he quietly goes out, does his job, and returns.

My husband calls him “Junior,” as in Son of Jamie Moyer. Considering Kyle looks like he should need a note from his mom that it’s OK for him to be out that late on a school night, it works for me.

The reason Tim hasn’t commented on everyone’s ideas is because they’re all horrible. The guys nickname is “The Kid” – leave it alone.

    July 8, 2008 at 6:52 pm

Hopefully we get whoever wins the NL West in the playoffs? Is that Gillick’s thought process? Get Bedard, Should’ve pursued Harden more.

Attn Rivalz: Its not nearly as offensive as santana making 25 mil this year and losing more games than he has won. What the hell do you want from the people on this website? Why don’t you go on a Muts site and GET LOST ASSHOLE.

  43. That Guy

    July 8, 2008 at 9:28 pm

BOTTOM LINE: Someone has to be called Johnny Wacko. I don’t care if its Rudy Seanez. That name is hilarious.

  44. RiVLez

    July 8, 2008 at 10:16 pm

Attn “That Guy”: Your a fuckin moron. I’m pointing out Cole Hamels not Santana. Santana is 7-7 and if that is losing more games than he has won you need to go back to school you retard. His ERA is under 3, it’s just the Mets do not score any runs for him. Also dickhead all I have to say is 1.5 GB. Thanks….GLHF

All i know is that swindel’s nickname should be ‘2 swings’ as in you have enough time 4. Kendrick should just be kyle ‘2 smooth’ kendrick i guess. His finesse impresses me.
