Reading Phillies Report

Here is another report on the Reading Phillies from David Hoppman.

The Reading Phillies won again last night beating the Portland Seadogs by the score of 6-0.

Drew Naylor was sensational going the distance. He struck out six, walked one and gave up only three hits for the game (only one after the first inning). He spotted his fastball well and had a great curve and change up. He was in complete control the whole way as his velocity stayed seemed the same from beginning to end. He needed about 105 pitches to secure his fourth win of the season.

Offensively, Domonic Brown had back-to-back triples in consecutive at bats – both to right-center field. Tagg Bozied hit a two run homer, and Matt Rizzotti continues to hit knocking in a run with a single. Also, Mike Spidale and Kevin Mahar had RBI singles.

Drew Naylor is not Stephen Strasburg. I’m not impressed.

Not everyone is or can be Steven Strasburg. Personally, I don’t find anything UNimpressive about a three hit shutout. Lighten up.

Naylor was awesome last night, only giving up 3 hits and 2 of them were in the first inning, pitching 8 inning of only 1 hit ball is pretty damn good. Brown’s back to back tripples was damn exciting as well. Reading looked great with the exception of not being able to score more that one run twice while bases were loaded in the bottom of the 8th. But then again the first batter to come up with bases loaded was Ozzie chavez. Who should have a sign that says “I swing at everything”

So much for Rizzotti not being able to hit home runs. 2 run shot in the bottom of the 3rd to tie the game, over the right field wall. That’s 3 home runs since Friday he has hit one in every other game

rizzotti is tearing it up in AA, hitting consistently and with power to all fields. he was a fan favorite in clearwater cause he’s such a nice guy. i hope he keeps hitting homers.
