Time for Castillo to Show Whats Left in the Tank

(PHOTO: David Malletti, Philly.com)

Maybe his tank really was empty. Maybe Luis Castillo ran out of gas on his way to Clearwater from the Miami area.

Castillo says it was a mix up with his agent on when to arrive, but regardless of why the Phillies new second baseman did not show, it’s an early strike. If he’s serious about making the club when they head north in a week, then he’ll have plenty of work ahead of him, both in the field and at the plate.

Playing in New York, the struggles of a player are well-documented. Castillo had them last year while dealing with leg injuries that allowed him to play in just about half the Mets games. Scouts have recently said they see his tank as bone dry. The Phillies will get a close up view and try to get as far as they can with Castillo for as long as they can.

Do you believe Luis Castillo has anything left in the tank? Before he even steps out onto the field, give us your thoughts by taking part in the poll below. Let us know how you think the Luis Castillo signing will play out.
