    Mayberry can even play first.

    Re: The Marlins

I dont think for a second they will beat the Phillies in a playoff series.

But I also know they arent like the Braves last year or the mets the 2 years before that who at no point I thought could take the Division regardless of leads.

Was kidding about Dobbs and Helms. They arent a major reason why they could make the Phils a wild card. I really thought that a few weeks ago. But the Phils have turned the corner. They are winning the east. Pretty easily barring some serious injuries.

They hoodwinked the Braves with Uggla. Making themselves better and the Braves worse with one move.

Not a real happy lineup but hey, its Sunday and lets see what happens. Could be Worley’s time to shine or, who knows? Should probably be a fun game to watch.

No Piece, no Utley, no Brown, no Chooch – Think about it Muts fans, if you were ever going to take 1 from the Phils this would probably be it.

    Hah!

  3. Andrew From Waldorf

    May 29, 2011 at 12:54 pm

    And the 5th starter

I will be inside watching while everyone else is enjoying a barbeque

Runs could be tough to come by today.

At least Worley didnt have to face a major league team today.

The Dipsy probably fell off his bar stool seeing that play by Raul

He is pretty bad out there

  7. Josh

    May 29, 2011 at 1:23 pm

Ibanez is a horrible left fielder..can’t wait til he retires..he takes that on on hop Reyes gets a single

  8. Lefty

    May 29, 2011 at 1:26 pm

The difference, and reason why we are getting to the oppositions bullpen, is because guys like Utley make their starters throw many more pitches.

Worley doesn’t have the movement he had, at least at this point

  9. Andrew From Waldorf

    May 29, 2011 at 1:26 pm

OK Worley not looking that good out there

ouch… this is an ugly, ugly start. We may have to put up with Mets trolls today…

    • Lefty

      May 29, 2011 at 1:31 pm

I doubt it, they had a lead for 7 innings yesterday and didn’t show. I think they call it Mets indifference.

Worley needs to have a seat -soon!

      • Tracey

        May 29, 2011 at 1:44 pm

Actually, I’d like to see him work his way through this thing. It’s a good learning experience.

Looks ike runs arent so hard to come by for the mets

    Really bad defense there

Worley needs to just pitch every 5th day

no moving up and down coming out of the pen etc etc.

  16. Andrew From Waldorf

    May 29, 2011 at 1:34 pm

    Mets fans are in hiding

    I really dont blame them.

The phillies have had a lot of bad teams. But they were never the disgrace that the Mets are.
I dont think I could watch a team like they are.

I have Reyes in fantasy this year. Next year with the big contract I wont even consider

This is an interesting lineup… Mayberry at first. I said in reply to the possibility that the Phils would DFA/DL Gload that he’s our back up 1B. Well, this move is a vote of confidence for Mayberry… They really want to keep him around. I’m not sure what happens when Vic comes back but it’s looking more and more like Gload (unlikely bc of his pinch hitting success) or Mini-Mart or Valdez are gonna go. I dont think they give up on Benny Fresh bc of what he has done and D-Bro has almost played his way into a starting role so I really think it’s either go w 11 pitchers, give mini back or offer Valdez a minor league option.

  23. Lefty

    May 29, 2011 at 1:47 pm

I may go tomorrow. Only if I can walk up and get cheap seats. i hate paying the $10 internet fees/taxes.

  24. MIKE

    May 29, 2011 at 1:48 pm

Lurking Mets fan who reads the blogs of other teams but not here to stir it up. Reality is Phillies are heads and shoulders above the Mets. Hard to talk smack when your team stinks.. but i dont go into hiding…still watching every pitch of every game but refuse to support the Wilpons at the box office.

  25. Tracey

  29. Andrew From Waldorf

    May 29, 2011 at 1:52 pm

Will be 25,000 plus phils fans there tomorrow and its a Halladay/Holliday

Tomorrow is probably the toughest Nats ticket this year.
But I am sure you can still walk in and get a ticket

I am going Tuesday night I think

    Go get Worley

and then start him regularily in 5 days

    the end

    • Brian Michael

      May 29, 2011 at 2:01 pm

The Nats do sell gameday seats for $10 starting 2 hours before the game. Usually there is a line of Phillies fans waiting, but that might be a good option.

  38. MIKE

I’m curious – are other Mets fan like you, in that they are not supporting the Wilpons? I feel like there should be more protest over the way they’ve run your franchise into the ground. There were a few good season but nothing to make up for the financial mess they’re in now. Are Mets fans revolting?

  70. MIKE

Andrew, its not inconceivable the phillies sign Reyes next year. If the Mets do trade him, its probably a 3 month rental and some team needing a SS (Philly?) may go for him. Wouldnt shock me. Trust me, if he is on your side you love every minute of it… Victorino ring a bell??. Watching Reyes is one of the few reasons left to watch the Mets.

  71. Lefty

    May 29, 2011 at 3:10 pm

    Hey Mike,
What do you guys think of Citfield? It seems cavernous.

  72. Andrew From Waldorf

    May 29, 2011 at 3:12 pm

    Reyes gets hurt to much
The Phils will re sign Rollins or go a cheaper defenisve route at SS
    Whihc I am all for.

Victorino is a positive club house guy
    Reyes isnt.

I think Reyes goes to the Giants and they sign him long term.

  73. Andrew From Waldorf

    May 29, 2011 at 3:15 pm

I remember when Shane hit a big home run. and there was a picture of him pumping his fist in the paper ans someone cut it out and wrote J REYES under it.
Basicly saying we dont tolerate this crap.

thats teams like the Nationals and Marlins always played the Mets so hard ( and regularily beat them) when the Mets were choking those leads sums it all up.
    Most hated team in baseball
Then theyd come to Philly and lay down for us. I loved it

  76. MIKE

    May 29, 2011 at 3:16 pm

lefty, it is way too big. Most fans seem to agree. Ive heard Alderson is seriously considering recommending moving in the RF fence in the gap next year and/or lowering the LF wall to make it a standard 8 foot wall instead of a 16 foot wall. I like that it is a pitchers park but they took it to an extreme. The park plays to Reyes skills but eats up David Wrights Rightcenter gap power. They knocked down ticket prices 8% this year but they are still way to high for the product. At least the food is good 🙂

    • Lefty

      May 29, 2011 at 3:21 pm

Good Food is important. I don’t understand the cut -out in right field either.

Ah well. Two out of three ain’t bad. And we’re still top of the division.

I guess if you’re going to get blown out, you might as well do it scoring 5 runs on 11 hits.

    May 29, 2011 at 4:14 pm

Yeah, because they’d rather hang out in beautiful downtown Waldorf than Georgetown.

I really have no issue with todays line up
It was the right thing to do

Lots of mistakes for the phils. Jimmy getting thrown out at second being #1 even worse then the bad fielding

I hope they leave all that in NY

They alot more than I thought they would be

But I came in with low expectations so I could be pleasently suprised

Why are they discussing brown going down even?
Not only is he not going down hes playing every day

I guess you have to talk down to some fans
