The Phils and Rays lock up today in an ESPN feature match-up. Freddy Galvis is still day-to-day with a bruised foot. Chad Qualls and Jonathan Papelbon are scheduled to throw on back to back days for the first time this Spring today and tomorrow. Jimmy Rollins is a healthy scratch today on a scheduled day off.

Erik Kratz and Tim Kennelly were optioned minor league camp today. Kratz, .409/.409/.682 in 22 ABs, was having a solid Spring but the expectation all along was for Kratz to be the Iron Pigs’ catcher and solid insurance if Chooch or Brian Schneider face injury. Kennelly, .167/.167/.167 in 6 ABs, is a 25 year old Australian first baseman who has hit well for Lakewood but hasn’t had much opportunity in the higher levels.

Phillies Lineup:

1. Jimmy Rollins, SS Pete Orr, SS

Does anybody know how many times Wigs has played 2nd base this spring (aside from today, obviously)? Some have mentioned that he can play there but I expect his defense to be atrocious there… I just don’t think he’s a decent option for 2nd base –should Galvis be out or get sent back to the minors once Utley returns.

But as long as it’s not Mini-Mart…

Luna with a walkoff RBI single!

And Schneider with a HR and a double.. nice!

Pods still leading the team in AVG among players with more than 40 at bats.

I caught a few minutes of this game – in either the 7th or 8th inning … Juan Pierre ledoff with a bloop single .. and then “stole” 2b ….. what will go down in the books as a steal – a good throw gets him by 5+ feet ….and even this crappy one, heading towards Right-Center Field, was almost enough to nab Pierre (im not even sure he was really safe) . .

Orr moved him over to 3b on a productive groundout .

Pods ended the inning with a pretty bad at-bat… strikeout on pitches all out of the zone.

Pods seems to be the better runner – but i’m still pretty sure they’ll peg Pierre as the extra OF until they need to make a definite decision regarding Pods’ contract
