Clearwater Facilities Flooded by Storm

Tropical Storm Debby swept through Florida this weekend and impacted the home of the Class A Advanced Clearwater Threshers, Brighthouse Field.

In these images tweeted by rehabbing Phillies reliever Justin De Fratus, the flooding left by the heavy rains can be seen. With lingering effects of Debby expected to continue to drop moisture on Florida through Monday, it is unclear exactly how the team’s schedule will be effected, as the Threshers are on the road until Thursday. The Gulf Coast League Phillies, who also play in Clearwater, have home games scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday. The GCL team plays most of its games on the neighboring Carpenter Complex field.

Reportedly, other ballparks in the region were affected in similar fashion as well.

De Fratus, a right-hander, who is recovering from a strain in his throwing elbow, threw from a mound on Thursday and Saturday and is progressing well. The 24-year-old De Fratus is feeling just fine and is happy to be taking his rehab process slowly, so as not to experience any further setbacks.

Wish this happen to the phillies park. They are so bad. I am
So happy I stopped watching. Charlie needs to go. Shane needs
To be traded away. Lee needs to go. Cole to sign. Polly and
Bastardo get rid of. Trade chooch. He will break down and only has
    3 good years left.

It’s a good thing Utley came north. Dampness isn’t good for bad joints. This could be a setback for all the other rehabbing players, though. With that much water, even the weight room and batting cages are probably too wet to use. I hope they have a powerful bilge pump down there.

This just sort of symbolically sums up the Phillies’ season to this point.

No slight intended for Jay Floyd, but PHILLIES NATION should be talking about our loss of a key double header yesterday, as well as Cliff Lee’s failure to win a game this year.
Maybe we could trade Cliff to a contender and use all, or part, of his remaining salary to get some young talent.
Sooner or later the Phils will have to rebuild this team. I say “SOONER”, because we will get more value for players like Victorino, Hamels and Lee. And when I say “SOONER'” i do not mean an Oklahoma Sooner.

Trading Lee or Holliday and Most of their salary would make Hamels signing a lot easier.

It would make it easier financially, but would Cole want to remain if we went into a rebuilding phase?
