2012 Gameday

Gameday: Phillies (39-51) at Dodgers (48-41)

Philadelphia Phillies (39-51) at Los Angeles Dodgers (48-41)

Joe Blanton (7-8, 4.98) vs. Nathan Eovaldi (1-5, 4.21)

Time: 10:10 PM ET, Dodger Stadium
TV:
CSN
Weather: Sunny, 71
Media: Twitter and Facebook

The Phillies won a series!  They need to carry the momentum into Los Angeles, and take a series from the Dodgers.

Joe Blanton needs to keep the ball in the yard; he’s given up at least one home run during his last eleven starts.  Perhaps that streak can end since the Dodgers are last in the National League when it comes to homers.

Eovaldi is coming off his first win of the season. This will be the first time Eovaldi faces the Phils.  He has only 18 major league games under his belt.  Eovaldi tends to allow baserunners, as he has allowed 78 hits and 37 walks in 81.2 career innings (1.41 WHIP).  The Phillies haven’t had trouble getting baserunners this year; their problem has been driving them in.

Your Gameday Beer– Port Brewing Co. SPA (summer pale ale)

You’ll need something to refresh you, and that won’t be easy on his hot evening. That’s why we present to you a refreshing summer pale ale from Port Brewing, from Southern California. SPA is a largely citric and piney blast of hop aromas that greet you. It has a very dry finish, but will refresh you nonetheless. Some corn on the cob, sweet potatoes, and filets on the grill would kindly go with this brew. -By Pat

Other than Shane being an idiot, why would he attempt to steal 3rd when your Power Hitter (we are waiting) is at bat?

I think that is Shane’s 3rd triple since the AS break

      July 16, 2012 at 11:32 pm

I think that’s right, Brooks. Makes me think of that MLB spot with all the players speaking in short clips, and Vic says “I will lead the League in triples.”

    Have a drink Brooks.

The phils have a winning streak going and the big Peace homered.

    All is right in PN

    They can do this.

    It is sick Brooks.

I come here and say a positive word about the big cntract and he cant catch a ball at first.

But If i do 500 words on how bad he is he will hit 2 homers.

    And yes here we go.

    Jack Daniels tonight Brooksie

this is where Charlies incompetance comes in.

It is also where his abusing the big arms the last few years has killed us this year.

I was wondering when we’d see Bobby

  23. Morris Buttermaker

    July 17, 2012 at 12:14 am

I often have trouble with names. I keep thinking that Schwimmer’s first name is David because of the actor from Friends. And then I think the guy from Friends is Michael. I’m get myself all mixed up. I propose that we change the pitcher’s first name to “Ahh fudge.” Because whenever I see him warming up in the bullpen, I say, “Ahh fudge, Schwimer!”

  24. brooks

    July 17, 2012 at 12:16 am

I remember when “getting into their bullpen” meant something

  25. brooks

    July 17, 2012 at 12:23 am

I like it Morris – since Fudge is the same color as crap, I haven’t been too far off when I see him coming in.. “Awe Crap! Schwimmer!”

  26. Andrew From Waldorf

    July 17, 2012 at 12:24 am

Heres the crux of the entire problem,

one run game in the 8th
And Charlie will let Howard hit vs a lefty

You cannot win with this mindset.
    Even if they win tonight.

  27. brooks

    July 17, 2012 at 12:24 am

An extra 2 or 3 runs would look pretty good here

  28. Morris Buttermaker

    July 17, 2012 at 12:26 am

“Fudge” is not the word I first typed, or say to myself. I cleaned it up for these message boards.

  29. Andrew From Waldorf

    July 17, 2012 at 12:27 am

    2 on no less

    2-0 count

You cannot win like this and really yuo dnt deserve to.

  30. Andrew From Waldorf

    July 17, 2012 at 12:29 am

    And theres the DP

    Oh well Brooksie.
    I tried

But what I said was too truthful.

  31. Morris Buttermaker

    July 17, 2012 at 12:29 am

Schwimer might be the worst pitcher the Phillies have had since the black hole of baseball that was the late 90’s.

  32. brooks

    July 17, 2012 at 12:29 am

Its the “Heart” of the lineup too

  33. Morris Buttermaker

    July 17, 2012 at 12:36 am

    Blanton has done his job.

  34. Andrew From Waldorf

    July 17, 2012 at 12:37 am

Tim Mccarver is going into the hall of fame?

I did get Blanton for a spot start tonight in fantasy.
    The dodgers are pathetic offensively.

  35. brooks

    July 17, 2012 at 12:38 am

Give it up for Joey! good game..
Now, its up to the 50 million dollar closer, Paplebum

  36. Morris Buttermaker

    July 17, 2012 at 12:41 am

Pence needs to get some fine tuning on his Strike Zone Sonar that he uses.

  37. brooks

    July 17, 2012 at 12:42 am

What a relief – here comes Junior!

  38. brooks

    July 17, 2012 at 12:43 am

    Whifffffffffffffff!

  39. Andrew From Waldorf

    July 17, 2012 at 12:44 am

K Rod just struck out the side.

    But we have paplebomb.

So you can hit Howard in the 8th vs a lefty to score no runs.

Reminds me of over pitching the staff last year to win 102 games and lose in round 1.
I guess it works in some circles.

  40. Andrew From Waldorf

    July 17, 2012 at 12:46 am

I do need the Blanton win though in fantasy.

  41. brooks

    July 17, 2012 at 12:52 am

Well Mr. Papelbum – winning run is at the plate get him to knock into a game ending DP?

  42. Morris Buttermaker

    July 17, 2012 at 12:54 am

Yea, I don’t know why Charlie did not use one of the heaps of garbage on the bench to hit for Howard either.

  43. Manny

    July 17, 2012 at 12:56 am

    This is intense!!

  44. Andrew From Waldorf

    July 17, 2012 at 12:56 am

    Paplebomb or Paplebum?

Any piece of garbage including some of the pitchers do more vs lefties.

But some like the 25,000,000.00 piece of garbage more.
    Go figure.

  45. Morris Buttermaker

    July 17, 2012 at 12:59 am

I’m sure Mayberry would have come in a blown the game open, like he has been doing all year.

  46. brooks

    July 17, 2012 at 12:59 am

this is the prototype hitter that has been killing the Phils (well, I suppose they all have been) hitting .219, 0 hrs

Ohh wait, nevermind. Umpires just announced that the Phillies lost because Howard was left in to bat in the 7th. CRUD!
