Gameday: Cardinals (61-51) at Phillies (50-61)

St. Louis Cardinals (61-51) at Philadelphia Phillies (50-61)

Kyle Lohse (12-2, 2.79) vs. Roy Halladay (5-6, 4.02)

Time: 7:05, Citizens Bank Park
Weather: Scattered thunderstorms, 84
TV: CSN
Media: Twitter and Facebook

Mike Lieberthal will be inducted into the Phillies’ Wall of Fame tonight.  During his 13 years in Philadelphia (1994-2006), Lieberthal batted .275 with 150 home runs.  In 1999, Lieberthal had his best season (.300 AVG, 31 HR, .914 OPS), making the All Star team and winning a Gold Glove Award.  It’s hard to believe that six years have passed, but a lot has changed throughout that time period.  The Phillies went from experiencing glory to looking a lot like that 1999 that Lieberthal was on.

Roy Halladay said shutting him down for the season isn’t going to do any good; he claims that he needs to pitch.  He’ll pitch tonight as he is coming off one of his best starts of the season.  Halladay will be opposed by Lohse, who has one of the best winning percentages in the league.

Rain might be an issue tonight, as the weather forecast does not look promising.  A rain delay, or even postponement is very possible.  Let’s hope we’ll get this game in, and a victory.

Your Gameday Beer: Dock Street Summer Session

This beer is pleasantly surprising. It’s one of the smoothest beers and finishes beautifully with hints of lemon and ginger. It’s pale and looks like a Blue Moon, but tastes waaaay better. You can check it out at Dock Street Brewery, located at 50th and Baltimore in West Philadelphia. I wouldn’t wander through that area too often, since it’s the ghetto, but I would trek through it for a beer this good. Get on it. -By Pat
