Wanna feel old?  It’s 1990’s RETRO night. It seems like yesterday we sported neon colors, plaid shirts, swishy pants, and mullets.  We enjoyed comedy sitcoms like Full House while teenaged girls screamed over the Backstreet Boys.  Or was that just me?

Anyway, the Phillies are going all out for 90’s retro night.  Not only will they be wearing their early-90s jerseys, they also have a record well-below .500!  Their sellout streak ended, so empty seats are a possibility.  Scott Rolen is even in the house!

The 90’s weren’t complete terrible for the Phillies.  Minus the whole Joe Carter thing, the 1993 team was a whacky interesting bunch who captured the hearts of Philadelphia.

So get together a fan club, and celebrate the 1990s in Phillies style!  And now for the obligatory pun: Party like it’s 1999!

LINEUP: Rollins SS, Pierre LF, Utley 2B, Howard 1B, Mayberry CF, Brown RF, Polanco 3B, Schneider C, Worley P

Your Gameday Beer: Budweiser.  Why?  We’re celebrating the 1990s tonight, and when I think of “beer” and “1900s,” the Budweiser frogs come to mind.  And who could forget those “whaaazzzuuuuupp” commercials that started in 1999?

GO PHILLIES

well cholly wasn’t satisfied losing last nights game with his bunt plays, and pen management!
comcast just posted tonights line up and polly wanna doctor is playing third! they reported he was told by the genius manager that he will play every other day! and brian effin schnikey is catching! so our twoo most consistant hitters in the clutch are on the bench so he can play his two over 37 soon to be free effin agents! i’m sorry fellas but they gotta fire that mother now!

I hope they’re just show casing Polly as healthy to dump him on the waiver wire. Frandsen should be in the lineup, period, but RAJ will have to call Charlie and demand he play Frandsen. I’d like to see Chase get some rest as well. They can put Frandsen at 2b since that’s the position he cut his teeth on. Heck sit Howard and play him at 1st.

Ryne, you are right. Your sight is 20/20 and you are on point with your analysis.

I wouldn’t complain too much about Brian Schneider. They say he’s better with the younger, less experienced pitchers than Kratz is. He certainly got the job done with Kendrick.

Let’s see if the Phils can take this series!!! (and yes, I feel old that they’re doing a 90s “retro” night — sheesh, part of the 90s was only 12 years ago)

    OH BEAUTIFUL CATCH BY BROWN!!!

i get that tracry but come on he’s not gonna be here next year and who did kratz handle in the minors old pitchers! if i recall kratz was handling ALL the releif pitchers that are here from LHV and most of them were lights out down there. so i don’t buy it. put the best players on the stinkin field. it just looks to me like cholly sucks the life out of them by doing this crap. how can you be loyal to players that don’t produce. is it any wonder why the team plays the way they do sometimes.

and i’ll reply to joe here on this post regarding showcasing poly for the waiver wire. they’re not showcasing him, every team out there has a book on him. and they all know offensively he’s done! and they all know if he’s healthy he can field with the best of them even if he’s hurting a bit. no cholly’s just a schmuck. who’s to say fransden and kratz knock in a few tonight? i wouldn’t doubt it. but we know what poly and schnickie are gonna do. NOTHING

(of course, Brown has made dives like that before and missed the ball, so maybe he just got lucky…)

OK, it’s just really painful to listen to these old announcers talking about the ’90s. It does make me feel younger, though — I’m not too old to know the 90s cultural references.

Jay Bruce was out by 15 ft. or so at home. And, it wasn’t a bad call to send him either. That throw was perfect.

Frandsen comes in a gets a hit. Sickening the way Charlie clings to the older players. Move on.
