Prada Named Williamsport Manager

From the official Twitter account of the Crosscutters, the Phillies have filled one of their last Minor League coaching vacancies:

Prada played four years, 1995-1998, in the Twins organization, reaching High-A Fort Myers of the Florida State league, serving primarily as a catcher behind Chad Moeller and Matt LeCroy on the depth chart. Over the last eight seasons, Prada managed in the Twins organization, compiling a 436-418 (.511) win/loss record. Prada spent his last five seasons at Single-A Beloit and the three proceeding years as the Twins Gulf Coast League skipper.

Analysis: Prada, just 36 years old, is now among the youngest Phillies’ managers in the system. Prada has many players who have gone on to see significant Major League time already, including Ben Revere, Wilson Ramos, Chris Parmelee, Brian Dozier, and Aussie Liam Hendriks. The move to sign a young, Venezuelan to manage short-season Williamsport may signal a willingness to develop more international players, particularly from South America.
