2013 Phillies Spring Training Broadcast Schedule

Baseball overload is right around the corner.  Beginning with Saturday’s Grapefruit League opener against the Astros, the Phillies will play 35 games in 36 days and all but three of those exhibition contests will be available to watch or listen to in the Philadelphia region and beyond.

The Comcast Network, Comcast Sportsnet, WPHT 1210 AM and MLB Network will team up to serve heavy doses of the Phillies spring baseball to fans over the airwaves and via your cable feed.  In the absence of televised games and terrestrial radio transmissions, the Phillies broadcast team is set to bring live play by play to internet users everywhere on MLB.com (and, of course, Phillies.com).

The availability of so many spring contests, including the team’s two “On Deck Series” games, played at Citizens Bank Park on March 29th and 30th, speaks volumes to the devoted following that the Phils have developed in recent years.  The success of the organization has grown the interest of the Phillies Nation for sure and, as such, many games will be available.

Below is a full list of the team’s upcoming spring match ups and how baseball hungry fans can catch their team on a daily basis.   You may wish to bookmark this for future reference.

Yeah, man! And figure in that one of the three games not being broadcast is a split squad game on a day when the other game WILL be on and another of the 3 is the WBC team exhibition. So, there’s really only ONE day a Grapefruit Lg game is not slated to be on.

This ratio of 35 of 38 games broadcast (or whatever), and especially since I guess it’s mostly TV is probably nothing new. But since I never pay attention to it and in that regard was born yesterday, it boggles the mind to think back to within 1 lifetime ehrn the Dodgers and Giants both telecast 9 games a year each, the road games against the other team.

Shame it’s not exactly a magnetically captivating product like the season and playoffs, but at least it’s there if you want it.

It’s just great to finally be following real phillies action instead of speculation. Add to that the drama of the spring training try outs, and it’s a very interesting time of year – you get to see the team get shaped, game by game. I can’t wait to see how this year’s spring training action plays out.

I have a date with a beer and a bar stool this Saturday afternoon! It will be nice to see Chase playing.

Have the Phillies officially announced their 2013 broadcast team pairings for TV and radio yet? I’m hoping that Franzke and LA are still gracing the airwaves.
