2013 Spring Training

Phils Fall to Jays 11-6

Tyler Cloyd gave up six earned, affording the Blue Jays a lead which they never relinquished, as the Phils fell 11-6.

The Good

The Phillies put up a good effort against the reigning NL Cy Young winner R.A. Dickey, plating three in the first. Two off those came off Ryan Howard’s second homer of the Spring. Howard is now hitting .429 for the Spring. Both Chooch and Erik Kratz hit solo homers and Kevin Frandsen continued his own streak of hitting the ball well with a double. Chad Durbin pitched a scoreless eighth with two strikeouts.

Areas of Opportunity

Cloyd gave up six earned in two innings off of seven hits and one walk while starter Cliff Lee gave up three earned in three innings off of five hits. Mike Stutes and Justin Friend both gave up a run in an inning of relief.
