2013 Spring Training

Phils Top Yanks 10-5

Roy Halladay scattered a run over two and a third while the offense put up their second consecutive double-digit run output to top the New York Yankees 10-5.

The Good

The offense again exploded, scoring 10 runs on 10 hits. Today’s standouts included Jimmy Rollins (1-2, 2 BB, 2 RBI), Cody Asche (2-2, 1 run), and Dom Brown’s very effective  but strange line (0-1, 3 BB, 2 Runs). Ryan Howard finally cooled off (0-3, 1 K) but is still hitting .444 through seven games. John Mayberry went 1-3 and a walk with 3 RBIs.

Doc pitched well, routinely hitting 89-91 MPH while Phillippe Aumont routinely hit 94 MPH with outstanding command. Rodrigo Lopez pitched his fourth consecutive scoreless inning of the Spring.

Areas of Opportunity

Jonathan Papelbon struggled again in his second appearance, giving up two hits, a walk, and gave up two earned with two Ks. Raul Valdes gave up two solo homers.

The Phillies resume their Spring schedule tomorrow against the Blue Jays minus a number of players participating in the World Baseball Clsssic. Cliff Lee is the probable starter.
