A big shout out to Port Charlotte resident, and the World’s Best Uncle, Doug Wernett who is a big Phillies fan. I suspect he will be watching today. Kyle Kendrick is pitching in support of Uncle Doug and the Phillies today against David Price. Ryan Howard finally has another day off after a Iron Man-like stretch of Spring Training action.

Does anyone know when the first cuts will be coming?

If you skip Ian’s bio, and the you may also like, Dave’s question is immediately after
      9. Martinez – CF. There’s a message there, no doubt.

I don’t know, but I think Monday would be a very good guess.

I’d have liked to have seen a little different batting order today. Take advantage of Brown’s confidence built spring, and bat him higher than 7. He’ll only face Price once, so it’s not that big a deal, but I’d have liked to have seen him either at 3 instead of MY, or ahead of Mayberry and Ruf at 5 or 6. Mike Young, for what it’s worth has K’d 7 times against the Pricey one in 17 career at bats.

I would guess a little later due to WBC this year.

D Brown goes the other way, with the pitch, and hits a screaming single to left. Off the Pricey lefty. It don’t matter. Kendrick has all he needs to work with as the Phils lead uno a nadda.

Kendrick through 2, spelling CY this way.

    3 Ks

    3 ground balls

    Not bad.

    6 up, 6 down.

5-6 for the Phils top 3 now, between Galvis, Frandsen and MY through 3 innings. That’s pretty good. Specially since Frandsen took Price deep.

Alas, not all is well in Mudville. Mighty Mini, he struck out. Gee, what a shock.

Kendrick’s perfect game venyure heads to the bottom of the third with the Phils crushing ’em, 2-zip.

If the Rays walk Josh Fields intentionally, Mini Man would be up with ’em loaded..

But they face him, and Ruf gets nailed at the plate for a double bleeping play.

And Mini will lead off the next inning, easing the pressure on the Rays not to face him as an RBI threat.

Ruf and Brown both had hits that inning. But we’ll never know if Mini would have hit a grnd slam.

Well, we will, but if you cain’t say something nice about Mini, shut the hell up.

    It’s qwiet. Tres quiet.

    March 8, 2013 at 2:23 pm

Fearful of a tiring David Price facing Mini, Joe Maddon pulls him in favor of fresh armed Jamie Wright with the Rays clinging to a precarious 1 run lead.

Mini works his way to a 3-1 count, and takes advantage of the hitters count to dril a popup just past short.

It’s the furthest ball Mini has driven in 2 years.

But the Phils still trail by one.

Ken, you’re killing me. I am dying laughing at your commentary. Kudos.

Stutes 2K, shut down inning adds to his impressive comeback since a rough first outing this spring.

Nice to see him getting his rhythm going.

This is an impressive deal by the Braves today. They’ve scored 14 runs against Houston throuh 4. They are 9-9 with RISP, and have left only 3 men on base. Not bad for a team that figures to have their share of Ks over the year.

Brown 2/3, Frandsen 2/3, Young 2/3… not too shabby.

Why did it look like mini mart was playing behind second base with Longoria up? Maybe he is our new short fielder…lol
