Cool to see these girls so pumped about our Phils!
    Go Emily!

I am having the same issue where it says i already voted. I tried from a computer and my phone ??

    • Jim

      March 6, 2013 at 6:34 am

There is no problem with the voting.. People are trying to vote more than once from the same device.. Some people are getting bitter..

  4. Marcus

    March 4, 2013 at 10:06 am

Your poll is broken. Says you’ve already voted. Same happened for several others. You may want to have a recount.

  5. Nicole

    March 4, 2013 at 10:09 am

I’m also having the same problem, saying I already voted but I didn’t. VOTE FOR KARA!

  6. Julia

    March 4, 2013 at 10:10 am

I tried to vote from my laptop and ipod and neither one will let me cast a vote. The webpage says “You Had Already Voted For This Poll. Poll ID #42.”

  7. Pat Gallen

    March 4, 2013 at 10:21 am

Hey guys, we’re working to see what the issue is. Should be resolved soon! Thanks all.

    • Michele

Do you need to have an account or log in to vote?

    • Julia

      March 4, 2013 at 12:55 pm

Is there a way to ensure and check that there isn’t any computer hacking happening to allow multiple votes from the same computer?

      • Mike

        March 4, 2013 at 2:07 pm

That actually happens a lot. It’s a computer program that just picks random isp numbers and votes from there. It’s why I hate anything as important as this to be based on fan votes.

      • Julia

        March 4, 2013 at 7:34 pm

Yeah I have a huge suspicion that if you’re getting 50 votes every 20 minutes there’s something fishy going on.

      • 36Chambers

        March 4, 2013 at 8:06 pm

We live in a digital world. IF someone is focused enough they can share information with 100 people they know and social media instantly makes it viral. Let’s not be so quick to doubt the motivating of some who are willing to do what it takes to win while remaining fair and just and in the process.

      • Dawn M Clinton

        March 6, 2013 at 10:07 pm

There’s nothing fishy going on….Kara has a million friends that know how much she loves the Phillies, cause she talks sports, primarily the Phillies ALL the time! She has groups of friends in at least three states…just that I know of…three jobs that are all network supportive, if not network driven….not to mention the people that just know her from her super outgoing personality, and she left a genuine impression on them! Oh, and did I mention that she ROCKS and genuinely had this passion for sports, which shows when she talks! I’m wishing everybody good luck, I’m sure they are all equal contenders…I’m just trying to say that it would not be difficult for any one of these girls to get 50 votes in a half hour. May the best woman win…what a fun opportunity!

  8. Kristine

Tried voting for Ryann Williams and it wont let me says i already voted.

    • Michele

      March 4, 2013 at 12:15 pm

If all these people voted for Ryann, why does she only have 4 votes? Are you sure they are going to the right people?

  16. Nicole

Tried voting and creating account. Nothing is working.

The most intelligent remark in this entire thread.

You did, however, forget to mention the “Nyaa, nyaa,” “and Rah rah” thing this also won’t become.

      • Chuck A.

        March 5, 2013 at 11:28 am

I think PhilliesNation is going for “ratings” here. There’s nothing like a little sensationalism, a little sizzle, to boost things! I would actually love to know what Arc thinks…

Kara is awesome! She looks like a new edition to the Phillies family.

  24. Brian Michael

    March 4, 2013 at 3:55 pm

Just to clarify, the fan vote only counts for a portion of the final decision. It is a significant portion thought.

    • Mary

      March 4, 2013 at 4:41 pm

Not sure I 100% agree with that. There are too many variables (a) a voting program that votes for a person using an online program (2) it’s like American Idol, not who is the best but who has the most people to vote for them. Fan voting has never been a reliable way to decide anything imo.

    • Julia

      March 4, 2013 at 7:37 pm

Glad to hear it is not all based on votes. Still is a shame though that people cheat to win votes, when there are other candidates just as qualified with better experience in the news anchor world.

  25. Carmen

    March 4, 2013 at 4:33 pm

Energetic, professional, intelligent, poised, passionate—that’s Kara! Keep voting for KARA!

  26. Sheila

    March 4, 2013 at 5:04 pm

The other girls barely mentioned ANYTHING about the Phils?! Let’s pick a true fan! GO KARA!!!!

  29. Kate

    March 4, 2013 at 6:56 pm

Wow, Kara!! She’s the only candidate who really talked the sport (and team), and she knows it well. This should be a no brainer.

  30. Danielle

    March 4, 2013 at 7:38 pm

I voted for Kara not only because she is a teacher like myself but she seems the most down to earth and a REAL Phillies fan and isn’t just a self promoter! Good luck Kara

  38. Joe Chile

Voted for Kara, Yuengling Beer and Pottsville!

  39. Jackie

    March 4, 2013 at 11:48 pm

Such a shame that some people had to put down the other girls that they aren’t voting for! I have a favorite but don’t need to put the other girls down especially when I don’t know them personally or know if they are a true fan! Good luck girls!

  40. Michelle

    March 5, 2013 at 12:19 am

I agree Jackie. All the girls are beautiful and all seem to love the Phillies. The only one I know personally is Ryann and know that she is one of the most hardworking and honest people I know. As a sports promoter (Fantasy Girl) for 97.5 she obviously knows sports – a graduate of Penn State with a degree in Communications and a concentration in journalism she is obviously smart – and a top 15 finalist in Miss PA USA shows beauty and brains and a co-owner of a pageant consultant business shows she is a go getter. Ryann is a mentor to young children and very involved in community service. She is very down to earth and not a party girl but she does know how to have fun.

  43. Raymond Babbitt

Yeah. Go Pottsville!!! Go Yuengling!!! And go Kara. Lets show these other girls how Pottsville rolls. Crush them by a few thousand more!!!

  44. Jamie

    March 5, 2013 at 7:46 am

I’m sorry but this is starting to remind me of that movie where the cheerleaders mom went around knocking everyone off so her daughter could win. Kara’s group is the only one I see putting down the other girls. Not very nice in my opinion. All of them are beautiful and have something to offer. Please grow up and just vote without all the negativity towards the others okay.

  45. Jen

    March 5, 2013 at 8:02 am

I totally agree I dont understand why you guys are bashing the other girls They are all stunning and deseve to win. I have my Favorite but wouldnt ever bash the other 3. Good Luck to all 4 ladies

  46. Steve

    March 5, 2013 at 8:35 am

All 4 seem like great choices to me. It’s unfortunate some people, not to mention any names, seem like sore losers on here. Remember, jealousy will get you nowhere. It seems obvious who the people’s choice is. Go Phillies!

  47. lorraine

    March 5, 2013 at 9:13 am

    VOTING for KARA!!!!

  48. melissa

    March 5, 2013 at 9:14 am

Let’s all remember that the reason for fan voting is to see who will be able to bring in some more viewers to get ratings up for the network. That’s why there’s voting. Like another poster said… Social media is huge! You reach out to 900+ friends, then they reach out to their 900+ friends and so on. It’s good marketing.

No one is bashing on here. If they were, there would be comments of “xxxx is horrible, why is she even in the running?” Those who wish to vote for their friends are simply saying what is working for their friend and not pointing names at the other three candidates. CALM DOWN PEOPLE!

  49. Mary

    March 5, 2013 at 9:24 am

Not sure who you think is jealous. Comments have been made that only one of the girls has the beauty and brains to do the job so and I think all the girls should come on here and promote themselves.

  50. Mary

    March 5, 2013 at 10:11 am

” You’ve been a Phils fan since 2006? You lose. Oh your 19 and haven’t earned anything in your life yet?? You lose too.. Stop crying less than talented people” It’s comments like this that I think are uncalled for.

  51. Ken Bland

    March 5, 2013 at 11:10 am

The dialogue in this thread is a trip and a half.

It teaches me that the electoral college process is a rock solid voting process compared to other possibilities.

It teaches me that the voting age has been lowered, and I didn’t hear the news.

Every historic incident has a Siamese twin. The Phils signed Eric Bruntlett, and they later signed my mainest man, the ever popular Mini Mart. In all liklihood, with more protests, the 4 finalists become the Program Directors Choice, and co-host the program together, as Senor Gallen opts out, and becomes the new editor of Albequerque Dukes Nation, and Corey retires, havng watched enough baseball to last a lifetime anyway. That oughta fill some of the commentators yearnings, and it rerpeats the story of how The Lennon Sisters, The Marvelettes, and The Jones Girls all started their precious careers.

I look forward to the next 400 posts in this thread. With any luck, the emotion barometer moves higher.Hope I can taske it. Probably. I’ve survived arc’s posts. Guess I should add so far as an important disclaimer.

  54. Melisa

    March 5, 2013 at 4:55 pm

Go Kara!!!!! In a world of sports, it’s nice to see enthusiasm that’s refreshing and knowledge of what’s being discussed to back it up. It’s always great to listen to people that actually know what they are talking about and show interest in the process! Kara would be the BEST female TV host and I support her 100%!!!!

  55. Amy

    March 5, 2013 at 7:47 pm

After reviewing all 4 candidates…there is 1 that stands out from the group because of her genuine display of personality, passion for the game, and a true charismatic fan….without a doubt—KARA is the next Phillies Nation Host!

  56. bill

I like bumble bees!!! Mmmm…. Bzzzzzzzzz

  57. Jayson Stone

    March 6, 2013 at 7:55 am

I think this is funny. All of the people complaining and saying that others are “cheating”. What proof do you have? Did you even watch all 4 videos? I did. I do not know any of these girls as I live in CA (moved out of Bensalem in 2001. I did vote for Kara. She talked about the Phils and what she likes about them and what she thinks they will do this season. The other three talked mostly about themselves, I don’t care what your interested in besides the Phillies. I don’t care if you were an intern somewhere. I care about your sports and specifically your Phillies and baseball knowledge, that is what this job entails. I am sure all 4 are very nice, lovely people and all will likely have success in their futures, however the only one that seems qualified for this (based on a 45 second video clip) is Kara.

  58. MaryAnne

    March 6, 2013 at 9:08 am

I don’t know if the Phillies Nation manager are reading these posts but I have a suggestion. Maybe nerves kicked in, it might be the first time in front of a camera for some of them – as someone who spends time on camera and in front of an audience, I know how easy that is to get over so don’t hold that against them. I noticed some spots are 20 seconds and one is 45 but I’m not sure why. I would like to see these videos taken down and the videos they entered originally put up. Is that possible? I think we would see a more true picture of why they want the position.

  59. MaryAnne

    March 6, 2013 at 9:08 am

My other oist was a little long lol but here is my point – I would like to see these videos taken down and the videos they entered originally put up. Is that possible? I think we would see a more true picture of why they want the position.

  60. gina

    March 6, 2013 at 9:16 am

Ok that comment is amusing. Take these down bc they r nervous? Several have comm degrees n exp “on air” n the best video comes from a MS Math teacher. Just another reason Kara is clearly the best choice!

  63. Leslie

Regardless of whether or not the website is functioning properly, Kara isn’t responsible for that. How can you call her a cheater?! She rocked it and is the only one who knows the sport and didnt sttttttuuudder!

    • Dawn M Clinton

      March 8, 2013 at 12:49 pm

I’m one of Kara’s biggest supporters, and I can guarantee she would not resort to 3d grade “bully” type embarrassment of her ‘fellow ambitious young women’ competitors. Really, stttttuuudder? Didn’t your phone even try to correct you? Not nice, and not helpful to somebody who was already probably just nervous. Everybody gave it their all, and had a lot at stake. One of the things they shouldn’t have had to worry about, is comments like a lot I’ve seen in this thread.

  64. Roland Schwinn

    March 6, 2013 at 12:23 pm

Did I miss the swimsuit portion of the competition?

  65. MaryAnne

*I* should be the next female Phillies Nation host. That job is MINE next year!

  71. Karie

    March 7, 2013 at 12:31 am

I understand that reaching out to social media sites is a great way to advertise this voting competition but it seems that the three girls are in more of a normal range of votes whereas the other is way out of the norm. There has to be some sort of voting proxy or whatever it is going on. Not to mention why is her clip longer than the other girls? Sometimes people think they are entitled to certain things and this isn’t a popularity contest like some small town minds think, but it should be based of their backgrounds and their course of study. Entitlement and that feeling of something being owed to them doesn’t work outside of Pottsville. People need to chill out and give all the girls credit for going in front of the camera which is not an easy thing! It shouldn’t be based on fan votes alone because that’s when the popularity contest starts and the wrong person wins. Good luck to all the girls and hopefully the right girl wins!

    • Jigga

      March 7, 2013 at 7:17 am

What’s a “normal” range of votes? And implying that using social media is somehow cheating is ridiculous. The other girls are younger than her and no doubt using social media to get the word out – don’t put Kara down because she’s just more successful. As for the entitlement comment – that’s a stretch. Sounds to me like the people trying to claim cheating and now put down Kara’s supporters have come down with a case of sore loserism.

    • Greg

      March 7, 2013 at 7:51 am

Who said she lives in Pottsville, she is just FROM there. Apparently having a lot of friends does work elsewhere as she has been “outside of a small town” for awhile.

I personally e-mailed all my friends and asked them to vote. They WATCHED all 4 videos first and then voted for the best, Kara.

It is amusing that all the “younger” candidates don’t know how to take advantage of social media.

  72. Magic Meatball

    March 7, 2013 at 6:57 am

So Kara feels “entitled” as you say (because shes from Pottsville….???!) yet you think it should depend on course of study… Making the girls who have journalism degrees entitled.
    True brilliance.

  73. Jenna

    March 7, 2013 at 11:36 am

Kara’s video is refreshing and clearly shows her enthusiasm for the Phillies. It’s great to see an intelligent woman behind the camera. Go Kara! Pottsville is proud of you! That’s why we have rallied to support you!

  75. Susan F

    March 7, 2013 at 2:28 pm

I think it’s a little disappointing and a lot insulting that apparently no woman over the age of 25 was even considered. Your ratings would definitely have been over the top with me (as my ~5,000 FB and personal friends passionately attest); I have a name well-known to and supported by Phillies fans, and a public-relations/communications background, and maybe even a teensy bit cute — but because I am in my 40s, I wasn’t even selected for an interview out of the “nearly 50” women you say applied. Ageism is still alive and well — and apparently you’re just going for the ogle factor here. Shame on you.

    • Ken Bland

      March 7, 2013 at 2:33 pm

I believe that’s an excellent post, Susan. I had replied to a message you and others were discussing on the presumed preference toward young and pretty and expressed some support for thinking optimistically about the competition. If nothing else, I think this message gives the powers that be some important feedback.

Most Phillie fans (and members of the team) laugh at you Susan. You are the topic of jokes and will always be. Wake up and move on. You had your 15 minutes. Go work your 5,000 FB friends by doing the only thing you know how to do.

It’s actually fairly easy to cast multiple ballots if you have the knowledge or know someone who does. It can be automated too, so that you only need to run it one time and it’s off to the races. Hope there’s no foul play here. I’d expect it at a Mets site however 😉

  77. Philliesmom2

    March 7, 2013 at 3:37 pm

All I know is if all the people from Pottsville are as mean, condescending, and stuck on themselves as the “fans” on here are, you all can have each other. The rest of the fans voting for other candidates have wished everyone the best, yes, some have wondered about a voting proxy but I’m not sure if I really blame them for that. Being almost 3,000 votes ahead of the next person is odd but hey it is what it is. The other thing is you all talk about the things Kara said, well maybe if the other candidates talked for another 20 seconds who’s to say they wouldn’t have said more. Just funny how Kara had so much more time and so many more votes. If she does win, I hope it’s a fair win but right now I think I will be a sore loser because I am questioning it and just bid adieu to Phillies Nation. Party on Pottsville and Yuengling beer.

From what I can tell, each of the girls appears to do a pretty solid job. Knowing Kara and her family, I am perhaps somewhat bias in her favor. But is that not exactly what we are looking for here, that is, for the person who can garner the most support from family and friends?

We are all free to vote and to make known our choices, letting the chips fall where they may. But to assert that anything underhanded has taken place here is surely an uneducated and desperate move. Kara is an outstanding young lady, who comes from an outstanding family. To criticize her success is to make judgments based on ignorance and to attempt to cloud the facts with the ludicrous notion of conspiracy. Whatever the official outcome, Kara has acquired these votes because of those, including her proud hometown, who wholeheartedly support her.

Enough with the speculation and the supposed plots to “fix” the results. Good luck to all of the girls . . . and GO KARA!

Out of these 4 women, the only one who even remotely sounds like a professional is Kara. I must say that the first girl, Alex, has a completely annoying “Philly” accent (who wants to listen to that?). and the last girl, Emily, looked as though someone was behind the camera pointing a gun at her face forcing her into this. Seemed like she barely wanted to be there.

I thought voting was over at 5pm but the girls numbers have been increasing since 5. Is it okay to keep voting?

I’m going to go out on a limb and say that the girls were handed the microphone and told to say what they want to say to the people to get votes…. Stop trying to make it seem like this is rigged and Kara got “extra time.” You just sound stupid.

I was wondering when you would be announcing the winner of the next Phillies Nation TV Female Host. I didn’t see it on the site.
