The big news of the day is that the Phillies signed former all-star hurler Carlos Zambrano to a minor league contract. No water coolers were hurt during the signing.

What the signing says to me is that the Phillies think they lack organizational depth at the higher levels that can help should another pitcher go down. It also shows a lack of confidence in Tyler Cloyd and a lack of readiness for Adam Morgan.

For today, keep an eye on Cole Hamels control. He’s walking 3.8 batters per-9, by far the highest rate of his career. Add to it that he already struggles in the day time. His ERA in the afternoon is 3.89 compared to 3.13 at night.

If you’re into beers that taste a little like beer and a little like windex, then this is your beer. In all seriousness, if it’s super cold, it masks the flavor a little bit and it might taste like Corona. Might.

Not that you think about this (if you’re smart) when you step to the plate, but the Phils are fighting the 8th time in 9 Hamels starts now where they have fallen behind if itr happens again. Is that in Hamels head no matter what he says?

Struggling (pretty big time through 2), it’d be interesting to see if he’s different or better if he got a lead. Two failed at bats, 6 in a row as the trend continues. Two runs up might provide some interesting watching.

4/1 gave up 4 Brave runs before the Phils scored

4/7 Phils plate 4in the first, KC gets him out in the 6th going on to slaughter the Phils

    4/13 Miami scores 1 in the 5th enroute to a 2-1 win

4/18 Cards take a 2-0 lead in the 4th, Phils tie in the 6th, Cards win 4-3.

    4/23 – Bucs score 1 in 4th, 1 in 8th, win 2-0

4/28 – Mets score 1 in 1st, Phils tie in 5th. Nix oinch hits in 7th and Phils win, but Hamels never pitched with a lead.

5/4 – Miami scores single runs in 2nd and 3rd, and record a 2-0 shutout

5/9 – Hamels yields runs in 5 and 6, giving Backs a 2-0 lead, and they win, 2-1.

5/15 – Plagued by poor command, Hamels gives up 2 3rd inning runs, and Hamels is trailing once again, 5-1 in the 5th

One time, Hamels has had a lead, 4-0, and couldn’t get thrpugh the 6th as the Phils go on to get killed.

Every other game, being with poor location, or pitching well with no support, he’s been clibing uphill. Tough way to go, and the one lead, large and lost pretty quick doesn’t make for a clearer head. Support wouldn’t hurt, but you gotta perfect yourself before you perfect the woirld.

Hamels is not right. He will be on the disabled list after this start.

Really you bring in that loser Durbin and then Horst…… wow Charlie needs to stop being so damn predictable.

It was looking like for a moment that they may get back in this…. then They bring out the trash, why has Aumont not pitched recently why not bring DeFratus out,

It is time for Durbin to go he has not had one good outing this season

They looked like they were starting to fight back…..

    so frustrating

Keep putting Durbin and Valdes out there and expect a different result…insanity.
