Gameday: Red Sox (32-21) vs. Phillies (25-27)

Boston Red Sox (32-21) at Philadelphia Phillies (25-27)

John Lackey (3-4, 2.72) vs. Kyle Kendrick (4-3, 3.29)

TIME: 7:05, Citizens Bank Park
Comcast Sportsnet
Weather: 88, sunny
Media: Twitter and Facebook

For those wondering why Cesar Hernandez isn’t in the lineup tonight, he won’t be arriving until gametime. Also, the Phillies basically said he wouldn’t have been in the lineup anyway, so there’s that.

Tough report on Adam Morgan. He has been shut down with a shoulder ailment, he had tests done last night on it, so we’ll find out more soon. But never good news when it has to do with a top prospect and his shoulder.

Also, Carlos Ruiz caught a few bullpen session, is still feeling a little pain in the hammy. He’s still a few days away from testing the leg by running.

Lineup: Revere CF, Frandsen 2B, Rollins SS, Howard 1B, D. Young RF, Brown LF, Galvis 3B, Kratz C, Kendrick P

KK seems to recover from bad things happening much better than he did before. Hopefully, the offense can come through with some runs soon.

No, you were not! It was a bank special but I will take anything hit to the opposite field by Howard. He has to get that swing back. Now, more than ever, we need him to even dream of having an interesting August and September. Why isn’t Brown hitting 3rd or 5th?

Lackey hasn’t let up a run in his last two starts. Just something to think about.

PhillyMike – You said what I’ve been saying move Brown up!

Revere did hit 300 last year so I am not ready to give up on him after 2 months. I am more worried that he misjudges fly balls. I know he makes some great plays but he needs to make the fairly routine ones as well.

Agree on all points. He’s hitting .348/.394/.394 (124 wRC+) in May coming into this game, albeit with an unsustainably high babip of .390.

I just looked up the same stat and was shocked. Not sexy to watch, but if he could maintain even .310/.335 he was a steal.

Frandsen needs to play 3 of 4 games. Just love the way he plays games. There’s enough crap in this lineup against lefties to get him time other than the normal starter day off.

Guess this is KK’s last inning. The joy of our bullpen comes next!

The Sox where practically given away at least one run here they could not take advantage off

Are you kidding? Phils left a lot of runners on base. Phils should have toasted this club tonight.

? Does Boston have enough of a book to decimate Pettibone like Cloyd? Need Pettibone to continue to progress because Martin and Morgan are struggling(Morgan now with shoulder trouble). I thought one of them would be up next year.

Pettibone has been solid. He has just been in a groove. Dominic Brown has answered the doubters with his bat.

Big problem with strategy though. You have Galvis with a 3-1 count and men on 1st and 3rd. Great situation for a safety squeeze and Galvis can bunt.

Phillies did catch a break at the end when Gomes didn’t score on the fly ball to left. I think the Red Sox feared Brown’s arm but Gomes probably should have scored on that play.
