Ricky Nolasco (3-6, 3.69) vs. Jonathan Pettibone (3-1, 3.64)

TIME: 7:05, Citizens Bank Park
Comcast Sportsnet
Weather: 72, Clear

It’s an amazing night for a game here at Citizens Bank Park. Absolutely perfect conditions.

Onto the matchup, which is Nolasco/Pettibone. Jonathan Pettibone got knocked around a bit by the Red Sox, but if he’s learned anything from that start, he should do just fine tonight against a Marlins offense that was squeezed by Kyle Kendrick last night. Can Pettibone continue his overall success at the major league level?

Against Nolasco, Ryan Howard is 10-for-36 with four homers, and they could use some of that tonight from the Big Piece. His struggles are apparent and while all the eyes have been on Dom Brown, Howard needs to get going, too.

It’s Carlos Ruiz bobblehead night, he could start a rehab assignment soon.

Look for Domonic Brown to get plunked tonight. According to Joe Capozzi, the Marlins beat writer for the Palm Beach Post, some on the Marlins thought Brown celebrated a little too much on his HR last night. “We won’t forget,” said one. Here is the bat flip they didn’t like. Too much? Or are the Marlins being babies?

(thanks Crashburn Alley)

Lineup: Revere CF, M. Young 3B, Rollins SS, Howard 1B, Brown LF, Young RF, Galvis 2B, Quintero C, Pettibone P

Sol is the lesser-known version of Corona. And, admittedly, not as good. I consider myself a Corona fan, especially in the summer time. If you’re going to a BBQ and you don’t want to waste your money being a big shot, go for this instead. I think you’ll save a few bucks. -PG

I’m sure if any player on the Marlins other than Mike Stanton were capable of hitting for power, was having the season Brown is having, and celebrated thusly, they would have no issue with it. He hit a homer off of you and was happy. It’s not like he blew kisses at your pitcher, or grabbed his junk and pointed to someone’s mother.

    Get over it.

Hell yeah they won’t forget. They won’t have time to, since he’ll probably do it again tonight. Maybe twice.

Well for one, it’ll be obvious. Maybe by the standards the Phillies themselves set it is a bit much as they are about them isn’t gentlemanly and sportsman-like team you can watch these days. In reality though they are cry babies. He flipped the bat, he didn’t throw it. He’s excited. He deserves it. Take a look at the football players the choreograph a routine every time they take a breath.

At this point, Dom Brown just needs to hit a game-winning home run in the bottom of the 9th.

Dustbin replaced Qualls, now Antonio replaces Dustbin as our favorite pitcher. What a mess.

Here he is again folks, in yet another go ahead situation – Ryan has to come through sooner or later!!!!

    That is just not right

Man, I hope we have a walk off soon. If this game keeps up we might start seeing pitchers on the field again!

      June 4, 2013 at 10:43 pm

We’re going to see a pitcher bat this inning.

        June 4, 2013 at 10:46 pm

Lefty – you are pretty incredible my man.
I wonder what makes Cholly think that Kendrick could do any better than Stutesy though. He just eats up another pitching slot.

      • Lefty

        June 4, 2013 at 10:50 pm

It’s a waste. Stutes could have laid that down, and stayed in. Only two relievers left, I think.

Why would they walk Freddy to face Kratz?

    June 4, 2013 at 10:43 pm

I think, if Howard doesn’t get going today, that Brown should be the clean-up hitter.

  10. Lefty

    June 4, 2013 at 10:52 pm

And then walk Kratz to face the guy that just tied the game up? And we think Charlie’s bad.

  11. Brooks

    June 4, 2013 at 10:54 pm

Who knows Lefty.. thinking the chances of getting a DP are increased perhaps.
Regardless, it seems as though the Fish want this game less than the Phils do – woooooooo Jr.!

I think the last few games Mayberry has provided sufficient evidence that we can unload D Young and have John’s better defense and better bat in the line-up as our right fielder until someone else comes along. Great job Mayberry on all accounts tonight. Way to come back Phils! Awesome, awesome stuff!!!

Are you friggin kidding me Ed??????????????? Wtf kind of idiotic comment is that?

      • Brooks

        June 4, 2013 at 11:13 pm

Mike, are you saying there is a plus side to Delmon Young that most of us have not seen yet?
Defensively and offensively this guy is a stiff – yeay, he hit a homer tonight but good Lord man, what games are you watching? Most of us here agree with Large and in Charge Ed – Young has been nothing but a stiff.

        June 5, 2013 at 12:52 am

Mike, what’s the deal? There is nothing on a baseball field that Mayberry doesn’t do at least as well as DY, and most things JMJ does better.

      • "Big Ed" Delahanty

        June 5, 2013 at 6:08 am

Not sure I understand how my comment is idiotic. How is D Young a better offensive hitter this year, or better defensive player than Mayberry?

      • Brooks

        June 5, 2013 at 7:09 am

Ed, I’m thinking Mike might be this years version of Jeff?
In other words – he likes to stir it up.

    • Johanna

      June 5, 2013 at 7:11 am

I totally agree with you Ed. The Delmon Young experiment needs to be over. It’s a fail. Mayberry would be far more productive and better defensively in that position.

Walk off GS – a 2 hr game by Jr… 3 homeruns and 6 rbi by our right field combination.
Nice to see and by the way, 1 game under .500 again.
Ooops – guess who is starting tomorrows game? Even worse, guess who has tickets?
    Double wammy…

I don’t know how long I can take Cole Hamels’ struggles right now… his 1-9 record is not ENTIRELY reflective of his 4.86 ERA (he’s got a 3.94 xFIP), but he’s converted about 1 K/9 to 1 BB/9 and had the lead last time, but relinquished it in just two innings. Something’s gotta give here to get him WIN numero 2!

    • Johanna

      June 5, 2013 at 7:12 am

I’m betting on Cole to win tonight.
