Kyle Kendrick (6-3, 3.12) vs Tom Gorzelanny (1-0, 2.01)

TIME: 7:15 CT, Miller Park

Weather: 63, some clouds

Media: Twitter and Facebook

The Phillies will attempt to get back over the .500 mark this evening in the third game of their four game set with the Milwaukee Brewers. The Phillies win streak ended at five games after last night’s 5-4 loss, and they have gone 2-3 against the last place Brewers this year.

Right-hander Kyle Kendrick will get the baseball for the Phillies in tonight’s game. He is coming off his second complete game of the season, a 6-3 win over the Marlins in which he gave up just two runs on six hits.

His counterpart will be southpaw Tom Gorzelanny, who will be making his first start of the season for the Brewers, and only his second start since 2011. In 24 games out of the bullpen, he has pitched to a 1-0 record and 2.01 ERA.

The Phillies have not fared all that well against Gorzelanny through his career, but Jimmy Rollins (5-for-14, two doubles), Erik Kratz (1-for-3, home run) and Freddy Galvis (2-for-4, 2 RBI) have had a bit of success against him.

Lineup: M. Young 3B, Frandsen 1B, Rollins SS, D. Young RF, Brown LF, Mayberry CF, Kratz C, Hernandez 2B, Kendrick P

Gameday Beer: Otter Creek Copper Aledownload

This medium bodied beer is a very versatile and refreshing brew that goes well with all types of ballpark food, especially stuff off the grill. It’s got a sweet, toasty, crisp taste that is perfect for either a chilly night or hot summer day watching the game. It’s tough to go wrong with a good ale.

So on a night where he knows its a bullpen start for the Brew Crew, Manuel sets his lineup up as righty dominant?… knowing that by the 4th inning the Brewers will put in a new pitcher (Probably a righty).

My favorite part about the lineup is that Delmon Young is batting 4th instead of moving Dom up. It’s starting to become comedic.

Not why they are behind but the umpires have missed 3 outs that should have been called on the Brewers. (1) Ramirez was clearly tagged out in the 2nd inning. (2) The 3-2 pitch to Aoki was clearly a strike. (3) Braun was tagged out when he tried to go 1st to 3rd.

Have to take a shot there with Howard, of course it would be nice if hd would stop swinging at balls!! Mayberry has proven not to be successful against rh..

Bad umpiring in the last 2 innings hurt the Phillies again. The strike 3 call on Rollins was ridiculous in the 8th inning. And, that was a very key spot in the game. The 3-1 pitch to Cesar Hernandez in the 9th inning looked low and inside. The 3-2 pitch was also low. It’s tough to win when the umps make so many calls against you.

Don’t blame the umps..good teams find a way to win.. This is a .500 team nothing more..

Yeah…I’m afraid that’s right. Not sure if they have it in them to turn this around. Losing these 2 games to this team just can’t happen if they think they have any shot at all.
