After getting rained out last night, the Phillies and White Sox will face off in a day-night double header today. The first game, at 3:15, will have Jonathan Pettibone pitching for the Phillies and John Danks pitching for the White Sox. Game two will feature John Lannan for the Phils and Hector Santiago for the White Sox.

Chicago traded away Matt Thornton–who has been a solid left-handed bullpen arm for them–to the Red Sox yesterday. He was 0-3 with a 3.86 ERA this year. This move makes the last place White Sox, at least for this series a weaker team. It will surely be an advantage for the Phils, who seem to always have problems vs lefty relievers. Darin Ruf will play first base in at least the first game. He’s someone to keep an eye on. Chase Utley will get at least the first game off, with Kevin Frandsen playing second base.

(G1) Revere CF, Rollins SS, M. Young 3B, Brown LF, D. Young RF, Frandsen 2B, Ruf 1B, Ruiz C, Pettibone P
(G2) TBD

Your gameday beer: Corona

Why not celebrate the peak of the summer with an ice cold Corona. Nothing beats one of these on the beach, by the pool side, or while tending to a grill stacked with your favorite meats. Lime or no lime, it’s a refreshing reminder of the summer for many. Enjoy the next two months, because they’ll go by so quickly. -By Pat
