Quick Hits: Halladay, Cloyd, Valdes Halladay will make his second rehab start tonight, his first with Lakewood. In his first rehab start, with the Gulf Coast League Phillies, Doc gave up three earned runs in six innings, striking out four while walking three.

To replace the injured John Lannan, Tyler Cloyd has been summoned from Triple-A Lehigh Valley. Cloyd is 3-1 in his last five starts with a 1.66 ERA and a .172 BAA for the IronPigs and had a 3.41 ERA in six prior starts with the Phillies in 2013. In a corresponding move, Raul Valdes has been optioned to Triple-A. In 17 appearances with the Phillies in 2013, Valdes has a 7.46 ERA.

Couple ground ball base hits and a long near homer foul ball off Doc so far..

Now a line drive double play retires the side, no runs, 2 hits.

    All in a day’s fun.

Now 3 of the first 5 Hagerstowners have hits off Doc. It’s Tyler Cloyd imitation night at Energy Park. And JP Crawford did the old GIDP drill in the bottom of the first.

And another base hit scores a run as Hagerstown leads 1-0.

34 pitches thru 2, and back to back K’s to wrap the 2nd. That back to back K sequence against that low minors Hagerstown ball club oughta fire ’em up.

Fortunately, it’s all about getting back out there, and getting back in the routine and feeling good, like a pitcher should.

Art Charles to the plate. Another in the never ending series of Ruben Amaro’s Greatest Hits.

Nice 1-2-3 for the Doc. But it ain’t about velo according to sources that must believe in that stuff more than others. Meaning we ALL believe in it to an extent. 89 top speed so far.

    But a 1-23 inning.

Somewhere over the rainbow is anend to this 2nd spring training.

    I can’t wait.

And the Claws take a 2-1 lead on back to back triples.

Doc threw 7 straight balls that inning. Lack of command or working on stuff, who knows. But via the magic of radio tonight, ya kinda get the feeling he’s actually pitching okay. About 58 8 pitches in through T4.

This is probably Doc’s last inning as he closes in on 90. Ity doesn’t seem like it would hurt to do another rehab start.

Seems like he’s doing tremendously for 3 months and 5 days out of surgery, no matter how non-major. But the curve is based on 1 thing. Getting big league hitters out. He’ll get his chance. But it doesn’t seem a bad idea to wait it out a little
