Phillies Prospect Quinn Tears Achilles

According to a report from CSN, the Phillies top prospect at shortstop, 20-year-old Roman Quinn, ruptured his right Achilles tendon and will be out indefinitely. He injured the leg doing sprints.

Quinn was a second round pick in the 2011 draft and was heading into the 2014 year as the Phillies fifth best player in the farm system, according to Baseball America.

Quinn, who missed significant time last year with a fractured wrist, hit .238 with 32 steals in 67 games at Single A Lakewood. Clearly, speed is his best attribute and he’ll now be dealing with a major leg injury and could very well miss the entire upcoming season.

CSN also reports Quinn was slated to retreat to the Dominican Republic to the Phillies developmental academy.
