Rollins, Phillies Get Past Tigers, 10-6

Jimmy Rollins hit a three-run homer and walked twice as the Phillies beat the Tigers, 10-6, at Bright House Field.

Darin Ruf was the DH and finished 1-for-3 with two RBI after hitting his first home run of the spring on Thursday. Dom Brown, Carlos Ruiz, and Maikel Franco also knocked in a run apiece.

Kyle Kendrick wasn’t all that sharp, giving up three runs in two innings. Of course it’s way early, but the Phillies have given Kedrick a good amount of money this year, so he’ll have to provide more consistency during the regular season.

I continue to be impressed by Darin Ruf and wish the guy could play a better outfield. He can certainly hit, we all know that. Another guy to keep an eye on is Phillippe Aumont, who pitched one clean inning.

Tomorrow, Phillies at Yankees.

I am liking what I am seeing so far from Jimenez. I did not see O’Sullivan or Kyle pitch. Be leary of Aumont, they wer still making some decent contact off of Phillipe, the Tigers really stink.
I think there is a lot of talent there, it will sift out as the season goes on. What I am most impressed about so far is the offense. They are getting a ton of people on base. As Cholly said early in the 08 series, there are going to be some lopsided scores you can bet on that..

Oh I hope that ruf plays first against lefties.

Todays game Buchanon is matching pitch for pitch with CC for now – 13 balls thrown, 13 strikes – Nothing in Buchanon’s stats looks particuarly appealing – he is not a strike out pitcher and seems like another KK at best.

Brooks, you may have gotten those pitch counts from the announcers, but in case you didn’t, or for anyone who may not know, the pitch counts on the Gameday app aren’t accurate in spring training.
