A Note for Tonight:

No Chase Utley in the lineup again tonight against Milwaukee, he’s still dealing with the flu. Ryne Sandberg mentioned he looked like a ghost and was only in the ballpark for about 30 minutes yesterday when the team sent him home so that no one else in the clubhouse would get whatever he’s walking around with. They could have used his prowess with runners in scoring position last night as the Phillies left runners on in each of the first seven innings.

Cody Asche also gets a breather, he’ll make way for Jayson Nix at third base. Asche was out early with Larry Bowa taking grounders after yesterday’s error (which really was on Ryan Howard to scoop, but I digress). Chooch stays in the three-hole tonight.

Will the Phillies fans boo Ryan Braun after his offensive explosion last night? Ryne Sandberg says he’s more focused on the pitchers being cautious of the slugger. Don’t boo, guys. It’s not working.

Lineup:

Revere CF / Rollins SS / Ruiz C / Howard 1B / Byrd RF / Brown LF / C. Hernandez 2B / Nix 3B / Hernandez P

Phils are doing a great job of capitalizing on Brewers mistakes.

Diekman looks really good so far this season

Agree – and I’ve been a Diekman fan even during his wildest moments. I think he’s going to be one of those guys who eventually achieves control and if he can hit the corners with that big slider I believe he’s going to turn into a very valuable addition to the club.

This is not the best baseball team I have ever watched.

Howard looked bad on that ball to first.

    There was some effort tonight.

As soon as Bastardo walked the lead off man in the 8th

I said out loud and the Phillies lose

how does mark Reynolds steal second on a lefty. They do not play fundamental baseball. they cant pitch and cant field.

      Just as a heads up.

      This team sucks.

This is the Brewers and the Cubs too.

When was the last time a player hit 3 homers vs the Phillies then tripled the next day?

Revere is not the best defensive center fielder ive ever seen.

Howard’s error + Bastardo walking the first batter (Mark Reynolds, no less) + Braun up= immenient implosion. Gonna be a long season.

    Its all my fault Tracey!

Babe Reynolds stealing bases and hitting bombs.

I need to start picking up players who face the Phillies.

I am going to enjoy this season.

Except the 10-15 games that paplebomb blows in the 9th.

    I will get mad then.

Otherwise its like a comedy show.

Not why is he hitting here..the real question should be why is he on the team.

      • Hogey's Role

        April 10, 2014 at 9:37 am

I’m not sure he can’t play defense and can’t hit, I’d rather have mini mart back

  18. Hogey's Role

    April 9, 2014 at 10:38 pm

I honestly thought this team looked really good in the first two series and had me thinking maybe we have one more run left in us, but this series against Milwaukee is definitely making me think twice, these guys look absolutely terrible in these last two games

How many more years left on Howard’s contract?
