Phillies Outright Nix, Galvis Breaks Clavicle

Jayson Nix is gone. He’s been outrighted off the 40-man roster, so he can either accept a trip to Lehigh Valley, or become a free agent. A corresponding move will come before tomorrow’s game against the Los Angeles Angels.

Which move that will be is unclear. It could be Cesar Hernandez or Ronny Cedeno. It’s unlikely to be Darin Ruf, who just started his rehab assignment at Lehigh Valley.

Freddy Galvis broke his clavicle and will miss significant time, although there’s no timetable yet. Galvis barely had a pulse at the plate before the injury, although this would certainly stunt his growth having to miss time and plate appearances.

I’m convinced Galvis is just plain jinxed, he just doesn’t seem destined to be playing MLB.
He gets the starting 2nd base job to begin 2012 due to Utley’s bad knees.
    And then-
    Injured back
    Suspension for banned substance
Incredible hitting drought to start this season
    Broken Clavicle

    What’s next?

This from the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons (Notice the way they spell Orthopedic—that means they’re serious 😉
      >>Whether your treatment involves surgery or not, it can take several months for your collarbone to heal. It may take longer in diabetics or people who smoke or chew tobacco.

Most people return to regular activities within 3 months of their injury. Your doctor will tell you when your injury is stable enough to do so. Returning to regular activities or lifting with your arm before your doctor advises may cause your fracture fragments to move or your hardware to break. This may require you to start your treatment from the beginning.

Once your fracture has completely healed, you can safely return to sports activities.<<

I think it should be Cesar Hernandez although I thought he had a minor injury. He has been hitting well. I thought they sent him down primarily so he would become more of a utility man.

Please not Ronny Cedeno, thats just Nix with a tan. Go down to AA or A ball but not Cedeno. Retreads, retreads is that all our farm teams have to offer.

Nix shpuld have been gone.. Sandberg loved using him as the “power” bat off the bench.. Ruben should have cut Nix just for that.

It doesn’t matter who Sandberg turns to on the bench they all suck, that’s not Sandbergs fault, get a clue

I saw that Heath bell was released by the rays, maybe the phils should try to take a flier on him, he’s looked rough for a while now so he’ll fit right in with our scrubs if nothing else

Its not Sandberg fault that he would use Nix with the game on the line?

It’s the roster he was given what do you want him to do about it??
