It’s almost comical watching Howard trying to hit a breaking ball from a lefty.

Good thing Byrd picked him up!

Phils have scored on a throwing error on a steal of 3rd, a wild pitch, and a passed ball. All they need now is to score one on a balk

I’ll take runs any way I can get them. /I just hope they save some runs for Wed and Thurs — I’m going to those games!!

@teejayvee – Totally unnecessary and classless comment by you to begin the thread. One of the game’s greatest players and finest men just died last week and you come out with this gem.

Yep, agreed. Also, I’m pretty sure Utley chews gum.

        Also agreed..

But I do think chase chews tobacco as well as bubblegum though, I wish he wouldn’t….

It’s a very hard addiction to kick, and sometimes when you are able to quit, it still may be too late….

Has Chase banged his head recently? These both looked like the kind of mental errors that scream concussion.

Chase is tired. Or bored. Or both.

Was wondering the same thing. TMac said he “figured some things out” (paraphrasing). What exactly were those things???

      • Hogey's Role

        June 24, 2014 at 10:04 pm

He figured out how to nail the sweet spot on the bat

Anyone ever sneak a peek at some of those rosters that Amaro was on back in the mid-90s? They look hauntingly similar to what we have now.

A great tribute to Tony Gwynn, Sr. by Phillies’ fans and a class act move by Saltalamacchia.
giving Tony Jr, his time alone at the plate.

Of course, national sportswriters will perpetuate the myth about out of control, boorish Philadelphia fans all based on the pelting of Santa Claus by a handful of drunks 3 stadiums and 46 friggin’ years ago.

      Santa was probably blitzed, too.

Love the Tony Gwynn sentiment. But how much longer will the Phillies go with him? .155 average before that at-bat in 52 games. Not exactly a tiny sample size.

would be nice to hold on.

Shame jr didn’t get a hit

WOO HOO!!! I was beginning to worry that the Phils would follow a 5-game winning streak with a 5-game losing streak.

Now please, just win one of the next two games. Tomorrow I’m taking my dad to the game for belated father’s day. Wouldn’t a win be nice for him? Come on, Phils, you can win 2 in a row right?
