A Note for Tonight:

The Phillies will be looking to take the first game of a day-night doubleheader against the Braves with Roberto Hernandez on the mound. The Braves took the first game of this four game series last night with a 4-2 victory. The Phillies lineup will be looking quite differently for the first game of this doubleheader with former Washington Nationals catcher Koyie Hill getting the start for the Phillies at backstop and batting seventh. Jimmy Rollins will also be getting the day portion of the doubleheader off as Ronny Cedeno gets the stop at shortstop and will be batting eighth. Manager Ryne Sandberg looks to put some speed at top of the lineup with Gwynn starting in right field and batting second behind Ben Revere. Domonic Brown is also back in the Phillies lineup after not playing last night, and he will be hitting sixth behind Cody Asche.

Revere CF / Gwynn RF / Utley 2B / Howard 1B / Asche 3B / Brown LF / Hill C / Cedeno SS / Hamels P

Andrew, are they showing tonight’s game on Extra Innings? I don’t see it on my guide.

God, SHUT UP and pay attention to the game! The announcers just talked through a double.

      June 28, 2014 at 2:38 pm

His first at bat with the Phils, I think, and they were just chatting through the double.

They are so annoying. If you were at the game last night, you missed the most annoying broadcast of all.

      • Tracey

        June 28, 2014 at 2:44 pm

I was home last night, but fell asleep halfway through. Didn’t miss anything, I guess; score was already 4-2 when I dozed off.

        June 28, 2014 at 2:46 pm

What I remember from last night’s game is that the announcers spent more time talking about the fun they were having in the outfield than they spent talking about the game.

      June 28, 2014 at 2:43 pm

TMac also said it was his first time up in the big leagues. First time with the Phils, but he has 10 years of major league experience.

Is it too early to not mention that Fausto has a you know what through three?

    • Tracey

      June 28, 2014 at 3:04 pm

I try not to mention you-know-whats until the 7th inning stretch.

Ugh. I’m usually a supporter of Howard, but this is awful.

Got the Bronx cheer that time.

  9. Tracey

    June 28, 2014 at 3:13 pm

Ugh. You can’t afford to go down 1-2-3 after an inning like that.

Is it me or did Jamie Moyer seem like he had a couple brewski’s last night?
    He was very ‘chatty”.

    Regarding the broadcasts.

    I miss Chris Wheeler.
    There I said it.

At least he had the hair piece.

Mccarthy seems to have regressed and I cant understand what Stairs is saying.

by the way this is a must win game for the Phillies!!!

Is there a stat-coming from behind when down 2 runs or more? Phillies would have to be near the bottom on that one.

    • Mike in NJ

      June 28, 2014 at 10:41 pm

Not sure, but they had a stat the other day that Phils were 1-34 when trailing after 7.

Personally, I *almost* always turn the game off if they’re down by 3

      • schmenkman

        June 29, 2014 at 7:10 am

After yesterday, the Phillies are 1-37 when trailing after 7. The Braves are 1-34. I’m sure both of those are at or near the bottom.

    June 28, 2014 at 4:30 pm

I miss Wheeler as well, but only because he talked enough to keep TMAC doing play by play only and not commentary. I’m not sure that Stairs and Moyer do their homework well enough. It seems to me that if TMAC wasn’t constantly prompting them, they’d have nothing to say.

    • lefty

      June 28, 2014 at 4:34 pm

And I’m speaking more about Stairs than Jamie. The truth is that I don’t need them when I go to a game, the same holds when I’m watching TV.

Alright, AB has let the wheels com off. I’m headed up for game 2.

  18. Tracey

    June 28, 2014 at 4:39 pm

Ugh…and here I was worrying that they would lose 4-2 again…

  19. Tracey

    June 28, 2014 at 5:19 pm

Well, maybe the Braves have used up their run allowance for the night and we’ll have a chance in the next game.

Howard is horrible. What a waste of 25 million. I knew it would only be a short time before another Bastardo implosion. This was a double header worthy of forcing one to end it all. Abysmal.

The Phillies are Pathetic….. and the announcers are annoying ….boy do I miss Harry…
