Congratulations to Jimmy…. Now be a good teammate and accept a trip to a contender.

It is interesting how all 4 of those hit leaders are so bunched up, btw.

I’m guessing he was a great teammate…BUT he made it clear that he wasn’t going anywhere because he wanted these personal records. He’s a great player and I’d love to keep him. Personally, I would love to see him retire as a Phillie.

But the question is…is this team going to win the WS with Jimmy on the roster? No. Not before he retires.

Will this team win the WS with the prospects he (and our other vets) bring(s) back? Probably not, but we’d most likely have a better shot.

Big fan of Jimmy. He’s done all he can now, so if I were him, I would look for a second ring to give a better chance of being elected to the HOF.

The question & answer could be asked a different way:
Is Jimmy going to win a WS with the the players on this team’s roster?
        No. Not before he retires.

They’re bunched because Ashburn was traded right after passing Delahanty, and Schmidt retired right after passing Ashburn. And Rollins will stay bunched with them if he accepts a trade (and the Phillies find a deal that is worth making).

On which, by the way, I’m sure he values your advice, but I trust him to make that decision for himself.

And if he chooses to not waive his no trade clause, I won’t consider him a worse teammate in the least.

Agreed. It’s his right to stay. No one could personally blame him (or Chase or even Howard) for wanting to be lifers at a time when that is rare and even considered an “accomplishment.”

As a professional athlete though, it has to be rough showing up in Spring training when you know your front office is outright inept.

    Congrats JRoll!

    Ok lets trade him!

Noone to really take his spot just yet unless they want to see Brignac play regularly. I guess only if blown away with the offer then trade him – but Crawford won’t likely be ready till late next year if all goes well.

Interesting that each new Phils hit record holder left shortly after breaking the record
