Brignac, Lee, Nieves Activated

The Phillies have announced that infielder Reid Brignac, LHP Cliff Lee, and catcher Wil Nieves have been activated for tonight’s game. To make room for the trio, the Phillies have outrighted catcher Koyie Hill to Triple-A Lehigh Valley, designated Tony Gwynn Jr. for assignment, and optioned infielder Cesar Hernandez to Triple-A Lehigh Valley. None of the moves come as particular shocks, especially the since the Phillies have been carrying six outfielders since signing Grady Sizemore.

I wish the best to Tony Gwynn Jr. When I think of the good Phillies memories for this year I’ll recall his first AB after returning to the team following the death of his father, Tony, Sr.. one of the greatest the game has known.

Ugh why would you want to keep KK? He’s been one of the worst pitchers in all of baseball over the last calendar year

Please stop showing TMAC making that stupid catch. You’d think it was a World Series winner the way they carry on. Focus on the team and the game please and – throw TMAC into one of the deadline deals while they’re at it.

He finished his rehab in the Gulf Coast League and has been with Lehigh Valley since July 6th.

In 49 PAs since then, he has hit .222/.265/.289 (.554 OPS) with 0 home runs.

You know it’s a pretty sad season when the return of Reid Brignac is a relief!
