For chrsps sake Andrew. Why didn’t you make me go with Rollins tonight- It’s your fault!

  3. Lefty

An unfortunate slide for Brown there. Suicide McKannin keeps his rep..

      July 11, 2014 at 9:07 pm

I like the gamble with two outs. Especially with the pitcher up next, I think you try that every time if you have any chance at all.

      • Lefty

        July 11, 2014 at 9:15 pm

        I agree, it’s just a fun nickname.

I love that nickname lol, makes me laugh every time

    July 11, 2014 at 9:14 pm

Oh Andrew, Why did you talk me out of picking up Rollins? Last time I listen to you- Uggh!

    July 11, 2014 at 9:21 pm

    Did I miss anything? 🙂

    • Tracey

      July 11, 2014 at 9:30 pm

But seriously folks… yes, I was watching the game, but I had other irons in the fire too so I wasn’t commenting. I also popped over to Papa Johns for some of that half-priced pizza (but mostly the half-priced cookie pie)

      • Lefty

        July 11, 2014 at 9:39 pm

How Ii s that cookie thingy?

      • Tracey

        July 11, 2014 at 9:42 pm

It’s REALLY good, especially when it’s piping hot and the chocolate chips are gooey. I am convinced that Domino’s “mistake” with the cookie pie was not coming up with it first. (grin) It’s basically just toll house cookie batter in a thin 10″ pie tin and then sliced like a pizza.

      • Tracey

        July 11, 2014 at 9:44 pm

Papa Johns also has an apple pie thing that varies from store to store, sort of a hot Danish also in a pie tin. The one near my office was fantastic, but that PJ location closed last year and the one near my home makes it just so-so.

      • Tracey

        July 11, 2014 at 9:45 pm

Of course, these PJ discussions are relevant because I’m counting on the Phils earning us more half-priced pizza tonight…

      • Lefty

        July 11, 2014 at 9:47 pm

Sounds great, We’ll try it soon.

  6. Lefty

    July 11, 2014 at 9:46 pm

D.C. announcers just said that the Phils attendance is 8th in the league and the Nats are 7th. What’s wrong with that picture Nats fans?

    • Tracey

      July 11, 2014 at 9:56 pm

I think it says a lot about how much BS that Emory study on baseball attendance was. Phillies have been on a downward swing for years, and attendance is way down, but comparable to other teams with better records

  7. Lefty

    July 11, 2014 at 9:53 pm

    Superior pitching Giles! Beautiful

  8. Tracey

    July 11, 2014 at 9:54 pm

WOO HOO! ! ! PHILS WIN!!!

…. I just hope the Phils don’t follow this 5-game streak with another stinkfest like after the last five game sweep

    • Lefty

      July 11, 2014 at 9:55 pm

Now now, enjoy the moment 🙂

  9. betasigmadeltashag

    July 12, 2014 at 1:01 am

So if they sweep the Nats can they be buyers. That would be 6-7 games back at the break. And they are a 2nd half team.
I think they can be buyers and sellers. Even though I like Tony No-Dad. If you can package him with say someone like Byrd to get a prospect and an almost major league ready guy

    • Brooks

      July 12, 2014 at 7:58 am

There will be no sweep, aint happening

    • Lefty

      July 12, 2014 at 9:51 am

      Please- No no no no.
IMHO- This is another illusion just like previous years. They must sell and can’t be lulled into this again.

Don’t be fooled by this mini- run. Just a few days ago they were no-hit for almost 7 innings and then the reliever blew it. They ran into a Brewers team that isn’t playing well at all.

They have had very few injuries to starting position players thus far, some are bound to happen. This is a grand illusion.

      • Chuck A.

        July 12, 2014 at 10:20 am

Except that they DID sell two years ago…Vic, Pence, Blanton. And last year M Young in August. They haven’t been buyers at all and won’t be this year either.

      • Lefty

        July 12, 2014 at 5:40 pm

Reasonable point. But they did play well this time of yeae and may have held off of making some deals for others that may have been beneficial sooner. Oh and I’m really looking forward to that beer and cheeesteak.

  10. bacardipr05

    July 12, 2014 at 7:53 am

The second half team thing probably doesnt apply to this crew at this point. Howard will need a major resurgence and Brown will have to pick it up. They do get back Ruiz who even though was struggling will be better than Rupp and the other guy. That slide going into the Brewers series really mucked up things for them. This current winning streak probably confuses things more at this point.

  11. DavidE

    July 12, 2014 at 10:26 am

I think the issue is how big the selloff will be. The Phillies are not in any position to part with future prospects. The Phillies have some veteran players who could be in demand including Papelbon, Bastardo, Rollins, Byrd, Lee, Hamels and Utley.

  12. Tracey

    July 12, 2014 at 10:48 pm

Gameday 93: Just got home and tuned in the game … another extra innings game. And the regular innings already took almost 4 hours. Fun fun fun.

    • Tracey

      July 12, 2014 at 10:49 pm

I shouldn’t complain; at least they haven’t lost yet.

  13. Tracey

    July 12, 2014 at 10:53 pm

OK, they just showed Ben Revere in the outfield on national TV, and there was no sound, but you could very clearly see that he was saying “Are you ###ing kidding me?”

I love and respect Chase as a player. But those runs in the the 10th are on him. One man on first you have to get an out there. Maybe no outs you take that chance at the lead runner. But a slow hit chopper with a fast runner on first. You throw out the batter. Would have gone 11 if he just got an out.

    • George

      July 13, 2014 at 10:33 am

Utley certainly figured into those runs, but he was not the entirely cause. Diekman was the one who walked the first batter and gave up the run scoring. And it was Sandberg who chose to let Diekman pitch to the right handed Zimmerman when it’s been pretty obvious all year that Diekman doesn’t do all that well against righties.

      • Chuck A.

        July 13, 2014 at 11:42 am

I was absolutely dumbfounded when Diekman was allowed to face Zimmerman. There was no excuse for that in my opinion.

  18. Lefty

    July 13, 2014 at 1:33 pm

    Gameday 95: Nationals at Phillies-

They do this for absolutely no pay folks- no reason we can’t do it ourselves-

    July 13, 2014 at 1:43 pm

You see those ads that people can click?

They are compensated when people click them.

Me I do this for no pay.

Another must win for the Phillies

    • Lefty

      July 13, 2014 at 1:51 pm

And in the six years you and I have been here, I’m gonna guess that between us, the total clicks are 1, that being the one time my mouse slipped. 🙂

Werth is against me in fantasy just FYI

  21. Hogey's Role

    July 13, 2014 at 1:45 pm

    Kyle Kendrick, you suck!!

    • Lefty

      July 13, 2014 at 1:58 pm

Certainly does in the first inning. Schmenkmann, if its not an imposition, can you please provide any Kendrick first inning numbers vs the other innings pitched?

      • Hogey's Role

        July 13, 2014 at 1:59 pm

24 earned runs in 19 first innings

      • Hogey's Role

        July 13, 2014 at 2:00 pm

11.37 era in the first inning

      • Lefty

        July 13, 2014 at 2:03 pm

Hard to believe he was such a good reliever a couple seasons ago. He was able then to come right in and get batters out.

      • Hogey's Role

        July 13, 2014 at 2:05 pm

He even had that long run of really good starts last year as well, idk what is going on with him this year

    cough-I have Werth-cough

      • Lefty

        July 13, 2014 at 2:00 pm

Werth every penny he makes, sure wish he was making it in our lineup.

      • Hogey's Role

        July 13, 2014 at 2:03 pm

I agree with you there lefty, he was a real stable piece of our lineup and outfield when he was here… He’s an impressive player for sure

      • Lefty

        July 13, 2014 at 2:15 pm

With all the money they have been willing to pay players, they went tight fisted on him. Hard to figure. Oh well, like I usually say “Don’t look back, you can never look back”

      • Hogey's Role

        July 13, 2014 at 2:24 pm

I know, doesn’t make any sense… And he’s in his 4th year of that contract and still productive

  23. Lefty

    July 13, 2014 at 2:08 pm

Andrew disappears for the first few innings. It’s a great time to insult him, he’ll never know.
    Andwrew’s mother wears army boots!

  24. Lefty

    July 13, 2014 at 2:10 pm

Roark is getting a lot of pop outs.

  25. Lefty

    July 13, 2014 at 2:17 pm

I also wish we’d traded for Span instead of Revere. They got to Minnesota first.

    • Hogey's Role

      July 13, 2014 at 2:25 pm

I would’ve rather kept may and Worley at this point

  26. Andrew from waldorf

    July 13, 2014 at 2:26 pm

I disappear when I am mad.

I got debacle in fantasy last week too.

I play the worst teams and they over perform.

I have Zimmerman but its not him its Werth.

Werths contract and what he does would make him an absolute bargain with the Phillies.

And its still a bad contract.

The Phillies just have ridiculously bad deals.

  27. Andrew from waldorf

    July 13, 2014 at 2:33 pm

You were right about FP being OK on fox.

Then when he gets in the Nationals booth he dumbs it up for the stupidest fans in the planet.

    DC fans.

    • Lefty

      July 13, 2014 at 2:38 pm

Agree, I think Bob Carpenter just brings out the worst in everyone atound him.

  37. Tracey

    July 13, 2014 at 4:19 pm

So here we go again, the Phils start to show some signs of hope, win 5 straight, then go into another tailspin

  38. Tracey

    July 13, 2014 at 4:38 pm

Woo hoo!! Two runs!!! That’s slightly less embarrassing than 10-1!!!

  39. Tracey

    July 13, 2014 at 4:40 pm

Wow!!! 10-3!! That’s almost getting to the point of not embarrassing!

    • Tracey

      July 13, 2014 at 4:41 pm

Either that or they’re just feeling sorry for us.

  40. Tracey

    July 13, 2014 at 4:42 pm

Game over. We go into the All-Star break on a down note with the worst record at the break in a decade.

  41. Lefty

    July 13, 2014 at 4:47 pm

Tough to carry the memory of a game like this into the break. Ugggghhhhh, 5 days until a chance to wash the taste of this one out.
