On the mound for the Mets is Bartolo Colon, who is going for his 200th career win.  He will be opposed by A.J. Burnett, who has had an up-and-down season thus far.  Burnett has been on the struggling side as of late, allowing 12 runs in his last 6 and 2/3 innings of work.

Lineup:  Revere CF /Rollins SS / Utley 2B / Howard 1B / Byrd RF / Sizemore LF/ Ruiz C/ Asche 3B /Burnett P.

Who gives a rats a– about the Mets? They could finish 8 gazillion games behind them, last place is last place.

No one cares about your bet.

Well, ok I do because you’re gonna carry me on your shoulders at the parade in 2023, but no one else does 🙂

        2023? I thought it was 2024. You’re optimistic tonight.

Now does the team fight here like it is 2008 again like last night.

Or is it the story of the last few years and 4-0 in the 5th means its over.

    Lefty stop hating on me.

Or I will drop you and you will have to stand on a fire extinguisher to see.

If the Phillies don’t score, this would be the 14th time they’ve been shutout this season (9th time at home).

The first thing you have to do before you either ghost, or scribe a column like this is ask yourself what you were like 30 (40 years ago when the roles were reversed. You and your peers. That doesn’t even factor in the generation before and their 5 mile walks to school in blizzards.

But if Mike Schmidt, and his peers were different, then the credibility of the piece is right on.

And perhaps it speaks to one, or some Phillies that probably would come to mind right away. Not necessarily sorrectly, mind you, but while on the surface, you’d think Mike Schmidt would be a terrific guy to listen to, let’s not assume he’s Billy DeMars, or at least the guy who carried around a great reputation as an instructor.
