Stark Talks About Phillies Lack of Movement at Deadline

Yesterday on 97.5 The Fanatic, Jayson Stark discussed the Phillies lack of dealing at the deadline and ripped Ruben Amaro for his inability to trade anyone.

Stark said teams were pissed at Amaro for saying they weren’t aggressive enough when dealing with the Phillies. As Stark mentioned, several teams made blockbuster moves.

It’s a must listen, and not because I co-host. But because Jayson sheds a lot of light on what the rest of the league thinks of the Phillies and their GM.

Here is the link.

I found RAJ’s comments very questionable and wondered what effect they might have on future dealings. Good follow-up by Mr. Stark.

You might find you get fresher and more first hand “info” out of Amaro’s interview on WIP this morning.

This is fine, and articulate to the point I’ve listened to it, but while it’s maybe a little more detailed than what’s been reported, it’s kind of old news. Hearing comments from Amaro, coupled with his mood, and a couple new divulgences adds fuel to the fire. Not that this interview doesn’t, but it’s not as sparkey.

Jacob turner was designated for assignment by the marlins, the phillies will have the 3rd chance to claim him behind the Astros and cubs…. He will need to have a 25 man roster spot which we could easily make for him….
We are not in a playoff race so letting him pitch and figure things out will not hurt us, we might be able to strike gold if we are given the opportunity…. It’s worth it to claim him and see if he can turn things around.

This was a buyer’s market. Sellers got pretty unspectacular returns. For them, hardly “blockbusters”. That the Phillies didn’t participate or that whatever GM that has Jayson Stark as his kept journalist is mad that the Phillies didn’t partipate–who cares?

I have never cared for Jayson Stark. He is very anti-Phillies. I don’t listen to him or believe him

Anti phillies? You serious. The guy is from philadelphia and is always talking about the phillies. If anything he may not be an Amaro fan, and who among us is or for that matter should be? Amaro is a clown and thinks he is the smartest man in the league

I was thinking about this sentiment this morning. I guess you don’t have to be a veteran of fanship to realize that usually, in highly driven emotional times, like a World Series, fans of the opposing sides often voice that the broadcaster(s) are pro the other team. Many times, THAT’S what tells the announcer(s) that a good job is being executed.

And not that I keep tabs on this stuff in detail, but as this happens pretty regularly, I don’t believe I’ve EVER heard/seen a reason attached to that conclusion. Somebody wanna get a point off their chest with no substance, so be it. And I wouldn’t go so far as to say it’d be interesting to hear how J Stark is anti-Phillies, and/or pro/whoever, but it does wake the curiousity factor a bit. I’d imagine even Vin has gotten yelled at over the years for such a crime, but I have a hard time stretching how a talk show guest, the sum of Stark’s broadcasting affiliation that I know of would fit that description.

The media won’t load on the page. Ya know, the content. Tried Chrome, Chrome Incognito with no addons, and IE8 with no addons. Nope, nothin’…

You can pass this along though. Let 975 know ALL of the ads loaded just fine. That’s the important thing.
