Matt Stairs hired as new Phillies hitting coach

stairshomer_400x400Matt Stairs will once again be in a Phillies uniform for the 2017 season.

Stairs has been summoned from the broadcast booth to take on the role of  hitting coach, replacing Steve Henderson, who was fired at the end of the 2016 season.

Stairs hit the final home run Harry Kalas called back in 2009 and also took Jonathan Broxton deep in game four of the 2008 NLCS.

The ball still hasn’t landed.

Stairs will be tasked with turning around an offense that ranked last in runs (610), 29th in team batting average (.240), and 29th in on-base percentage (.301).
