Franco mourns loss of Ventura, Marte

Good morning! We’re one month from the first game of spring training (Phillies vs. University of Tampa).

STREAM TEAM: Late last week it was announced that Comcast SportsNet will offer live streaming of Phillies games for a variety of devices in 2017.

You need a cable package with CSN in order to stream those games. But the service will be available on the NBC Sports app and via the NBC Sports and CSN websites, and accessible on iOS, Google Android, Roku, Microsoft Windows, Amazon Fire and Apple TV.

MOURNING VENTURA, MARTE: The baseball world was shocked early Sunday with the news of the passing of pitcher Yordano Ventura and infielder Andy Marte. They were killed in separate car accidents in the Dominican Republic.

Ventura, 25, went 11-12 with a 4.45 ERA for Kansas City last year; he was part of the Royals’ 2015 world championship team, and was considered a talented young pitcher with high potential. Marte, 33, last played in the majors in 2014 with Arizona. Most recently he was playing ball in Korea.

Both players were Dominican; fellow Dominican Maikel Franco tweeted his reaction Sunday.

GRAPEFRUITING 2017: Today begins our weeklong preview of Clearwater, for those of you thinking about heading to Phillies spring training this year. We’ll tell you where to stay, where to eat, what to do and what to look for this spring.
