Offense aids Pivetta in first big league win

The Phillies are on fire and have now won three straight games for the first time since the end of April. The Phils jumped all over Braves’ starter Bartolo Colon with a three spot in the first inning thanks to an Aaron Altherr RBI single and a Tommy Joseph two-run home run. A five-run fourth, extending the Phils lead to 9-0, chased Colon from the game after Odubel Herrera hit a two-run homer to right field. The center fielder was 3-for-5 with two doubles, a homer, and two RBI. He’s the first player in Phillies history to record two doubles in three straight games. The 2-3-4 trio of Herrera-Altherr-Joseph went a combined 9-for-14 with each contributing two-run homers. Maikel Franco was the only position player in the lineup to go hitless.

Nick Pivetta battled through five innings while allowing three earned runs to earn his first big league victory. The bullpen pitched four innings of one-run ball in relief.
