Disappointing if the report is accurate. No managerial experience that I’m aware of. He worked for the front office of another organization (Dodgers). Obviously, he is unknown to the young players on the Phillies team and vice versa; His ability as strategist and accessible communicator to the players is yet to be determined. For the Phillies GM , the focus is on sabermetrics and the capability to use it in game strategy. That is the only reason I can think of his choice in hiring Kapler.

Interesting timing. Pressure with the recent manager becoming available. Didn’t want to answer any question about his availability.
I guess they talked to giradi…probably not, would have cost too much. He would have wanted them to actually spend money on players, front office, scouting, and development.

I WISH BOB FERGUSON WAS SILL LIVING HE WOULD BE MY CHOICE. HE WAS THE FIRST MANAGER IN PHIILLIES HISTORY (1883) AND HE WAS ALSO THE FIRST SWITCH HITTER IN BASEBALL HISTRY (1870)

Hard to follow these guys this year, I know its rebuilding time but wow …we suck… you want yoyr fans back and the seats filled? Then spend the money on Giradi and straighten the ship.

Did you notice they were a .500 team in their last 76 games?

The players (including any offseason acquisitions) will do a heck of a lot more to “straighten the ship” than any manager will.

I hope you’re not really a professor. History is not spelled histry. Plus I think the game has changed a little since 1883. Cry if you want Kapler is the guy and he needs the support of the fans. Bitching doesn’t fix anything Go Phillies!!!

3 of the last 5 years in the basement and not being a small market team sucks. No excuse for such a poor record. The entire organization has issues.
