Report: Phillies ‘zeroing in’ on Dusty Wathan for manager

Bob Nightengale, baseball reporter for USA Today, tweeted Wednesday that the Phillies are “zeroing in” on Dusty Wathan for manager of the big-league club.

That’s all the information we have.

Wathan, of course, managed the IronPigs last season (to an 80-62 record). But he’s been in the organization for a long time, managing Williamsport, Lakewood, Clearwater and Reading, as well. He’s the all-time winningest manager in Reading history, and he’s managed just about every player on the expected opening day roster. Moreover, he spent time in the dugout as a member of the coaching staff in September 2017.

Nothing has been confirmed; we’ll update when there’s any more news.
