Gameday 2018: Phillies (0-1) at Braves (1-0)

braves2-300x113.gifThankfully, they play baseball nearly every day. We can put yesterday behind us and hope the outcome is much better today. The Phillies visit the Braves for the second of three at SunTrust.

The lineup:

  1. Hernandez – 2B
  2. Santana – 1B
  3. Herrera – CF
  4. Hoskins – LF
  5. Altherr – RF
  6. Kingery – 3B
  7. Knapp – C
  8. Pivetta – P
  9. Crawford – SS

Pitchers: Nick Pivetta (0-0, 0.00 ERA) vs. Mike Foltynewicz (0-0, 0.00 ERA)

Odubel Herrera is back in the lineup in center field, while J.P. Crawford is down in the nine-hole. Also, Andrew Knapp is starting for the second-straight day, leaving Jorge Alfaro on the bench. So that’s about it-

OH WAIT, right. Scott Kingery makes his major league debut tonight.

Here we go.

Your Gameday Beer: We need to wash away yesterday’s terrible finish, so I suggest a clean, crisp pilsner. Let’s go with Steamworks Pilsner, one of the best I’ve ever had of the style.

Go Phillies!

Franco has the most success against this pitcher so I guess that is why he is not in the starting lineup also Knapp is 0 for 8 against him for sabermetrics I’m confused or is Kapler reading them differently. The hell with numbers GO PHILLIES

Yeah, Franco is 4-12 with a homer. And no strikeouts. I had a feeling he’d sit tonight totally based on the fact that he had a good night at the plate last night. Small sample size, but when you’re pissed off at Kapler, that favorable sample size looks larger to ya, and the feeling Franco would sit jumps out as well.

That’s what happens when you play everyone everywhere. Unacceptable, but that’s what happens

I really think the Phillies need to pull off some kind of trade. Guys like Franco Williams Altherr and Kingery need to play everyday. I can’t see Franco becoming a good PH or bench bat.
Had to watch the ATL feed tonight and their announcers said Hernandez is a player any team would want on their team. So top bidder gets him.
