Church Out, Delgado Hurt In Mets Win
Posted by Tim Malcolm, Sun, March 02, 2008 12:27 PM
The Mets defeated the Dodgers 1-0 in Grapefruit play yesterday, but suffered a setback in the process.
Right fielder Ryan Church collided with Marlon Anderson and suffered a Grade 2 concussion. He’ll be back on the team when the symptoms are gone, and the Mets are projecting three weeks.
Carlos Delgado, meanwhile, went back to New York to get an MRI on his right hip, which made him sit a slew of games late last season. With Shawn Green retiring, there’s no real back-up plan for the Mets at first base.

Beltran’s hurt, El Duque’s hurt, Schneider’s hurt, Castillo’s hurt, Easley’s hurt, Chavez’s hurt, Valentin too.
Serves their fans right for all their glee over the Lidge injury.
You know you’re in trouble when Moises Alou’s your healthiest outfielder-lucky for them it’s early March.
March 2nd, 2008 at 1:51 pm
if this was the middle of the season you know they’d be in the line up. the just don want to push it and risk more. sorry mabe u dont know that b/c ur a phills fan.
March 2nd, 2008 at 2:26 pm
These injuries are all a sign of things to come for the Mets this year. There going to be decimated by injures, and the fans are going to whine waaaaa this isn’t fair… waaaa our players are hurt..
March 2nd, 2008 at 2:47 pm
My mom can’t spell, and doesn’t have time to type out complete words, yet has time to find this blog.
March 2nd, 2008 at 4:25 pm
Please leave “ur mom” alone as it’s obvious he’s retarded, and it’s not cool to pick on retarded people.
March 2nd, 2008 at 6:13 pm
to be honest, Beltran, Schnieder, Easly, and Castillo, arent really that badly hurt. like “urmom” said, they just dont want to risk getting severly injured…beltran came off of knee surgery this off season and the same goes for castillo…
I say come april, they’re all in the lineup giving the phillies some trouble.
March 2nd, 2008 at 9:03 pm
It won’t be anything the Phils can’t handle, right, Steve?
March 3rd, 2008 at 5:59 am
People felt Castillo was losing speed the last couple years, and his leg problems shouldn’t be helpful even when he takes the field.
Beltran’s had knee surgeries two years running, and does seem to like to lean on injuries for excuses.
Problems like this come up when you try to buy a championship-usually the players you buy come with more wear and tear on them. They did get Beltran and Santana relatively young, but the Alou/Castillo types are bound to break down as they get older.
March 3rd, 2008 at 5:56 pm
beltran has had knee injuries the past two years, yet look at the numbers he put up…i don’t think those injuries are really hurting him much…but come talk to me in 3 years, lol
March 4th, 2008 at 4:50 am
Yeah, the boos the Mets fans hurl his way are because they love his numbers so much, LOL!
