Jaramillo, LaForest Cut; Coste Wins 2nd Catcher Job

Posted by Tim Malcolm, Tue, March 18, 2008 08:49 PM

According to Scott Lauber, Jason Jaramillo and Pete LaForest were cut and reassigned to Minor League camp, thus making Chris Coste your reserve catcher for the 2008 season.

Congratulations, Chris. He’ll provide a nice change of pace and veteran presence, and yes, some nice hitting once in a while. Jaramillo may not be the catcher of the future (Lou Marson is that guy, most likely), but he’ll get a chance to make a big impression as he’ll likely be the starting catcher of the Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs.

  1. Sean P. Says:

Was it ever really a question that Chris Coste was not the backup catcher…

  2. John H. Says:

Chris Coste’s book is terrible and Lou Marson is SO not the future. If you think that Coste has the edge and Marson is the future, we need to re-think or else we’re in trouble. The prosects out there have a WELL qualified resume and definately have the edge over those two. One can go write a book and the other still has some learning to do.
