   Seems to me like Lahey is a stopgap for the time being. I imagine this is directly as a result of Eaton’s final flop in Florida: his days are numbered on the elite 25. It also looks like we’re going to give last years franchise record number of pitchers a run for its money. Our two major acquisitions are on the DL and lord knows what’s going on with Kendrick.

   Who knows… who the hell knows.

   Oh, and it would be sweet if anyone other than Howard could hit the ball.

   Since when has this management consistently made moves that made sense? Now we’ll never know if Drew Carpenter could have been an instant answer to pitching prayers.

   Tim Lahey? Why do I get the sense his name is basically synonymous with Joe Table, Gas-Can Geary and Aaron Flotsam? (And, considering the Phils could use a righty, what is Gas-Can up to these days, anyway?)

   So this dude failed in Chi-town. Is he really any better than the guys who failed in our own spring training?

   I truely dont understand the reluctance to bring up some of their OWN fucking young pitchers and give them a chance to pitch to big league hitters out of the pen….ala Joba Chamberlain and Hughes. Why are they so scared. My guess is the whole Gavin Floyd mental collapse…..but I mean thats one damn guy.

   I agree with Gavin, if the reason they do not bring them up is because they dont want to hurt them mentally, then they shouldnt be in baseball. To win in Baseball you need the ability to overcome adversity. Also along with Gavin FLoyd, i am thinking Brandon Duckworth is in there as a flop also.

   Mike Grace, Matt Beech, Carlton Loewer, the list goes on. Makes you wonder if there’s something wrong with this organization’s pitching development philosophy and if Cole Hamels and Brett Myers are exceptions to the rule, NOT the rule itself…

   Uh, yeah he didn’t find a spot in Chicago’s pen because the Chicago bullpen is significantly better than Philly’s.

   Woodward was signed to replace Ray Olmedo would refused the assignment to AAA Lehigh Valley and became a free agent. Woodward will probably play at AAA and his fate doesn’t have much to do with Helms,he is more of a back-up for Bruntlett and will only see time at the big league Phillies if there are injuries or possibly as a September call-up.

   Gosh…..I sure am glad we didn’ go out on a limb and sign Lohse for 1 year 4 mill.
