I trust Madson, Romero, Gordon when they are rested and Hamels is over 110 pitches and has battled through a tough game already to put us in position to win. Yes, I trust them. The Phils bullpen has been good overall so far, I believe one of the best in baseball. They are making a major league salary. While healthy and rested, they should be out there in the 7th-8th-9th unless the starter is tossing a gem. They will blow a few, but they will get us through many more successfully.

Mike T: I was trying to say that Romero is a guy that comes out, throws it with all he has and thats, that... Once he goes into the dugout, thats it.. his arm doesn't respond the way a starter's does, because his job is to go out there... throw strikes, usually to only a few batters. So with that being said, if they would have taken Hamels out for the 8th yesterday, you could have used Romero, but then you would have used Gordon for the 9th.. which I guess they should have done. But Manuel was simply trying to get Hamels thru that inning, and then play the percentages for each at-bat in the 9th... if only they could have gotten through that 8th inning..

Don M: Last season there were 12 games where Romero threw over 20 pitches. In those 12 games combined, Romero gave up 1 run.

People need to remember though that Romero was literally trash until we picked him up last year... he had been released by 2 teams?? ... and when he first came up last year I hated the way he'd start walking off the mound at what he thought was a strike, openly yell at the umpire when he didn't get calls, etc... But he was one of the biggest reasons that the Phillies made that push last year. Also, Alfonseca was big last year, espc when Myers was on the DL...until they used him up and he wasn't effective. Thats what you need to be careful of with Romero... his strength is coming in and throwing

I would've had Romero go 2. Give him off today, and rest him game one of the Bucs series.

yeah. i dont know where i got that from. i remember the local pgh media reporting the season ending payroll as 7 million one year. it was not 1997 it was something like 2002 or 2003. one year they dumped aramis ramirez and a bunch of other people for almost nothing. not including the trade where they got oliver perez and jason bay. they generally slash payroll at the deadline, though they added matt morris last year which was their main payroll increease. regardless, theyre not trying to win that much iv obvious. when your payroll is 50 million and youre a pro baseball team thats disgraceful given the salaries of players today. that means youre trying to rake money and not trying to win. that much should remain obvious despite the number disparity. the phillies should annihilate this team, and if they dont theyre frauds at this time.

Let's not count Moyer out just yet. He pitched GREAT on saturday vs the mets after a bad 1st inning. He has a 4.79 ERA which is better than his ERA last year. If anyone deserves to be booted from the rotation it's Kendrick.

I love Dobbs and Coste. They just go up there and hit. I wish both of them started (at 3rd and C).
