Gamenight: Phillies (1-2) At Reds (2-1)

Posted by Tim Malcolm, Fri, April 04, 2008 05:00 PM

Thanks to some timely singles, some good bullpen work and Jimmy Rollins’ legs, the Phillies are finally in the win column. Now it’s time to even ‘em up. And Kyle Kendrick, the second-year pitcher, gets the call to do the job.

It’s the first road game of the season for the Phils, as they hit Great American Park for their annual early season tilt with the Cincinnati nine. It’ll be a homer-lover’s dream in Cincy — Dunn, Griffey and Phillips vs. Howard, Utley and Burrell. Warm up the mitts. Rain is expected for Cincinnati, so hopefully they get the game in.

Phillies: Kyle Kendrick (0-0), 0.00 ERA
Reds: Josh Fogg (0-0), 0.00 ERA

Gametime: 7:15 p.m.
Weather: 54 degrees, rain
Lineup: Rollins/Victorino/Utley/Howard/Burrell/Jenkins/Feliz/Ruiz/Kendrick

Your gamenight beer: The name of the game is “Victory!” because of the Phils first win of 2008, and of course, that means a Victory beer. How about Golden Monkey, which tastes like victory — fruity like hell (bananas, oranges, vanilla) and smoothly tart (if that’s even possible) — and is ripe with enough alcohol to last you a good hour. Enjoy it with some lemon-glazed chicken and rice. Hey, we’re going to be classy some nights.

Go Phillies!

It is so important for Kendrick to have a good start tonight. If he can come out strong it will give the team some momentum and Kyle the confidence to have a good season.

Burrell’s 1st bomb of the season….I think the team may start rolling now.

Pat the Bat is going to have a huge year. MVP

I’m not sure if that 250 average is going to sit well with sportswriters, or constitutional delegates for that matter. We have to be realistic, like we were when we chose Tom Jefferson to write the declaration instead of John adams. Burrel stinks anyone can hit 30 Hrs in Philly. The sad truth is the reds have a better record then the phillies. Embarissing. Am I worring too much about the team after 3 games. Yes, but so are those Pat Burrell secret admirers/retards

  5. Dan Says:

woah, the phils are .500- not as embarrassing as your spelling. Pat’s got great numbers. Some would consider pat the best hitter in the nl after the all-star break last season. If you’re going to call someone a retard, back it up buddy.

  6. Fran Says:

    Pats going to be MVP
