   I’d rather see Vic out there than Werth or Jenkins. Taguchi is not an adequate answer in center.

   I’m not sure how thrilled i’d be to give up Carrasco and Vic for Blanton. i know he’s a solid

   As bad as the prospect of a Burrell/Werth/Jenkins outfield is, Vic is really the only league-ready trade bait on the team. Taguchi is not an answer; I wouldn’t mind seeing the team take the flier on Greg Golson for speed/defense/arm.

   Taguchi not an option- he sucks! No speed, no arm, too old, no nothing!
   Myers needs to hit the pen- no doubt, he’s hard too watch! He’s stupid as heck, does he not get that he can’t throw it right down the middle AND he’s lost speed on his fastball?!?! I’d love to get someone else in there. Maybe make Chad Durbin a starter? But a trade may be needed!

   Somebody needs to tell victorino that a combination of intagibles along with being the team’s “pie in the face jackass” doesn’t cut the mustard in the show. I hate it when people don’t realize their act is growing tiresome.

   They need to make that move. Blanton can eat innings and is a solid option under contract for 2 more years (i think).

   shane victorino is a fine player, but he is WAY overrated. taguchi is unacceptable too though. they need to promote golson and take the risk there. victorino has to go for pitching. has to. bring in blanton and bring up happ and thats a steady rotation until the deadline.

   it is a go-for-it year, and heck knows ownership hasn’t done sh** and won’t do sh***. man i hate those guys. if i saw Giles & Montgomery in quicksand, i’d throw theme each a cinderblock.

   that said, yes, bring up Happ - sit Myers & hope he comes around. trade Eaton to a rodeo show, trade Vic and any prospect (remember, the PHILLIES think we have good prospects, no objective source has raved about any of them) for a dependable starter. bring up Golson. Why the f*** not?!

   Exactly. We know what they have now is inadequate. therefore, something has to be done and this proposed victorino for blanton, bring up happ, bring up golson, get rid of eaton (even if you have to DFA him) is MUCH better than what they have right now.

    These are all well and good ideas, and I see the value in all of them. But let’s be serious….do you think any of it could actually happen? Remember, we can’t spend anymore money and god forbid if ownership tried to make a move that actually makes any sense….to anybody

    Victorino (+ prospect?) for Blanton?? Is Oakland willing to give up Blanton? Why? They have three solid regulars in the OF. Flemington, N.J’s own Jack Cust, Ryan Sweeney and Emil Brown. Maybe you just toss that name out to stir some feedback for your blog?

    Blanton is rumored to be one of the major trade deadline chips, if the A’s aren’t in contention by then. Also, I wouldn’t call Cust and Brown “solid regulars.” Cust is more a DH anyway.

    bruce probaly just wants to see gillick hang tight so he cant make a bad trade… because he might have trouble defending that idiot after another bad trade or signing….victorino goes i could see lofton as a viable option????

    chris: Lofton is very me-first from what many say, and he’s a more expensive option than say, Greg Golson, who would give you close to what Lofton could (without the good hitting, of course).

    I’m alright with trading Victorino. He’s a great base runner and a great center fielder but he’s a mediocre batter. Blanton would be a hell of an improvement over Myers and Eaton. I would definately give J.A. Happ another stab at the bigs as well.

    Happ just got demoted, so I don’t think he’s a viable option to bring up any time soon. The thing about Victorino that the Phils would miss the most is his arm in the outfield. He holds up baserunners just by virtue of the ball being hit to him.

    That being said, Werth has shown that he has a pretty good arm as of late too!

    With Zagurski and Mathieson on the DL for the rest of the season (if Mathieson ever recovers which doesn’t seem likely) and Happ pitching poorly, it seems like Carrasco is the only pitching prospect they have that’s worth anything.

    They have to be considering moving Chad Durbin to the rotation…

    Wrong pitcher Rick. J.D. Durbin was demoted to (AA) not J.A. Happ. Happ has been doing quite good this season.

    As for Chad Durbin I’ve been saying he deserved the No.5 spot since spring training yet Eaton still ended up with it. I thought he looked damn good on Sunday until he got in that jam that tied the game.

    Make the move. I like Vic a lot, but we can limp by with Burrell/Werth/Jenkins (and I am in favor of giving Golson a whack over Taguchi). The glaring need is quality starting pitching. If the dad-gum first baseman would start playing anywhere near his salary, the offense will be fine.

    Beane will flip blanton if theyre not in the race by then he tried to do that in the offseason too. hed LOVE to flip harden too but i wouldnt take harden with the phillies team doctors’ track record.
