You won’t need money to keep Carrascho, Savery, or Drabek. As for Burrell. He woulda had 120+ RBI’s last year if he was batting in Rowands spot which he should have been, and Rowand should have been batting in the 2 hole. Burrell will give you a .400 OBP 25-30 homers and 80-120 RBI’s the next 5 years. His range is horrible, but Howard won’t be on first forever. Burrell is a good candidate for a 1B player, and he’s always been healthy. He is never injured. I think a 5 year $50 million contract is fine for Burrell, but you might be able to get him for 5 years $40 million on a home town pay cut. A high end AL team might offer him $15 million a year though, so we’ll see what happens.

BURELL…. the highest he EVER hit in a season is .282 His three highest home run totals 37, 32, 30 … and he’s passed 100 RBIs only twice in his entire career… so he is FAR from a guarantee in any of those numbers you listed.. To sign him to a 5 year deal would be insane, because he has almost no range now in the outfield… he can’t play DH if he stays with us…

I think something around 2 years- $20 million would be good.. with an option for a 3rd year.. I like Burrell, but they need some pitching.. and $10 million a year can get you something decent.. or go towards Hamels.. then maybe Carrasco, Savery, Drabek.. one or two of those guys might be good..and 4 years from now you’ll need lots of money to keep them..

I might buy one of those red Burrell T-shirts whether they resign him or not. In fact, I might buy one especially if they don’t resign him. It’ll be my f-you to the front office — a reminder every time they see me in that shirt (which will be never) that they let a guy go who, as Phil just said, deserves to retire as a Phillie and is a clubhouse leader.

I’d say 5 years, $50 million is not overpaying for him at all. He’ll guarantee you 30-100-.278 for at least the next four years.

To not resign Burrell is insane. He’s not worth $14 million a season, but I’d offer him a 5 year $50 million contract. He’s worth that. I know he’s no Manny, but what is Manny like 90 and still playing left field? Burrell is bad defensively, but he’s not atrocious. His bat more than makes up for it too, and I think he’s one of those players that will hit better the older he gets. I feel that he is a staple to this organization and a silent leader in the club house. I really want to see Burrell retire in a Phillies uniform and become a hitting coach. He has a good eye and waits for his pitch. That is something that needs to be taught and practiced, and he can teach that to young hitters.

Yeah id pick up a lidge or EVEN a burrell jersey if they resign either of them. to not resign lidge is insane if he keeps pitching this way. give him whatever he wants.

Modells. I was gonna buy a Howard or Utley jersey there this winter. They had them for $34.99, but I don’t forsee Howard being a Philly that much longer and I have one of those Chase Utley fake jersey shirt things. I’m really feeling a Lidge jersey if they resign him.

Yeah, the fitted ones are $35. They’re also much nicer in my opinion. They’re $30 at regular stores. I guess CBP jacks them up $5 more knowing rich Penn kids like to go to their games and get drunk and will buy a hat so they can fit in so they make $5 extra on the hats.
