I think you’re right philspan. Floyd benefited not only being with another team but also from their coaches. In particular the pitching coach who probably corrected some flaws in Floyd’s technique.

If Gavin Floyd was on the Phillies in 2008 he would pitch as well as Brad Lidge would for the Astros in 2008.

Both players needed a change of scenery and weren’t going to get any better where they were.

Yeah, and look at how awesome Gavin Floyd’s been doing this year. Sure wish we had him in our fucking rotation. We wouldn’t be going over these semantics right now if Gavin Floyd was in our rotation.

i know you build through the farm but ed wade did the same thing never made that big trade to give us a chance…he held onto gavin floyd forever and nothing produced…WIN now…who knows is any of these prospects can be major leaguye players

phils…make the trade for c.c, oswalt, harden, or bedard…

they need to make a big move not a minors 3rd 4th or 5th rotation starter…they need another ace to match hamels everyteam that wins the ship has to aces @ the top

Nah, they’ll resign Burrell. Werth is probably a 30 home run a year guy, well maybe just in our ballpark. He has so much potential and such a high ceiling, but it’s unknown what he can truly do. Everyone knows what Vic can do. Werth is more toolsy, but it’s not yet proven to what his full potential can be. People are going to want the proven player, not the high ceiling guy.

When they are both playing on the top of their games… both have good range in the outfield… Victorino has a stronger arm. Both can play all 3 OF spots… Werth has much more power at the plate, and if he played everyday could easily project as 25+ HR guy.

Victorino is much faster, but Werth is also a very good baserunner who can steal bases.

You would think Vic has more trade value, but the more you look at it.. Werth would fit nicely into most lineups as a #6 hitter with Power…who helps you defensively… Victorino is either a #2 or a #7 in the lineup… since his speed is his best assest. Lets see what teams ask for.

I thought Werth was going to be our everyday LF next year

Why would Werth be more desirable than Victorino other than the fact Werth is a 5 tools player and has a higher ceiling than Vic? He’s not proven and can’t hit righties. Vic has shown what he can do. He’s gonna be a .280 BA speedster his whole career. Werth has a lot of potential, but I doubt he’s going to exceed his expectations.
