Gameday: Mets (43-44) At Phillies (48-40)
Posted by Tim Malcolm, Sun, July 06, 2008 12:20 PM
Last night the Phillies blew a 4-3 lead, letting the Mets run away late and beat the Phils 9-4. JC Romero and Tom Gordon engineered the blow, as the Mets circled the bases in the eighth and did even more damage off Rudy Seanez in the ninth. It erased a dramatic go-ahead, with good pinch hitting and clutch power hitting.
Now the Phils face the erratic Oliver Perez, who has been doing better in his past few starts. He now carries a 4.98 ERA, but once topped out at 5.70. He’ll face Kyle Kendrick, who is coming off some good starts. Hopefully he keeps it close once again.
Phillies: Kyle Kendrick (8-3) 4.58 ERA
Mets: Oliver Perez (6-5) 4.98 ERA
Gametime: 1:35 p.m. EST
Weather: 82, possible storms
Lineup: Werth/Utley/Rollins/Howard/Burrell/Feliz/Victorino/Ruiz/Kendrick

MLB Gameday
Your gameday beer: Guys, I’m down the shore right now. Ahh, Avalon. The home of older folks and basically one bar. Help me. Seriously, as I’m down the beach, I’m going with Bud Light Lime, a new installment from the boys at Anheuser Busch. It’s a bad beer, let’s be frank, but for lime beers, it’s not a bad choice. Munch on some nachos with this.
Go Phillies!

Budlight LIME…come on I know we got whooped last night but geeze…its not that bad yet.
July 6th, 2008 at 12:46 pm
LOL, it really is a bad beer. But if it was down to BLL and something like Miller Chill, I’d have to agree with Tim’s choice.
July 6th, 2008 at 1:10 pm
We NEED this win. I say need because of the piss poor bullpen effort last night. We need the bridge from Kendrick to Lidge be solid and we can outscore the Mets, as easy as that. Im predicting a 6-4 win for the Phightins.
July 6th, 2008 at 1:17 pm
I have to say this which has bothered me for quite some time. Why does Charlie continue to start Carlos Ruiz? Yes, his defense is pretty well above average but since Opening Day when he was 1 for 4, his BA hasn’t been above .246 (he’s now flirting with the Mendoza line at .207) and his OBP has been below .300 for most of the year. I may be biased because I have never really liked Carlos but if we can send Myers down to AAA, why not Ruiz? We hear all of this talk about Lou Marson tearing up AA, and with a solid consistent catcher in Chris Coste, why not give Marson a shot? You could say Coste isn’t much of a veteran in the big leagues to help and guide Marson, but Ruiz sure isn’t either. I’d take my chance with Coste and Marson at least for a month or so to see if Ruiz can turn it around in the minors. They say Marson is the future of the Phillies behind the plate, but maybe that future can be right now.
July 6th, 2008 at 1:38 pm
Jon, Coste is an example of a guy who is performing excellently in his role, and trying to extend his role is likely a recipe for upsetting a good thing. He’s 35, and can’t handle the behind-the-plate squat on a full-time basis. He’s a great twice a week catcher who can provide serious BA off the bench.
We all hate GIDP (i.e. Ruiz), but I think we’re stuck with him. Besides, other issues (Myers, the need for a No. 1-2, Gordon, Jenkins) are much more pressing. Marson’s better off getting full-time at-bats in the minors for now.
BUD LIGHT LIME? Seriously, if my choices were that and Zima, I think I’d thirst to death. Or just switch to Captain and Coke.
July 6th, 2008 at 1:48 pm
I wouldn’t start Ruiz against lefties since he has struggled against them. I know that Coste can’t play full time, but Coste should start against lefties and Ruiz should start against righties.
July 6th, 2008 at 2:00 pm
The Phillies record with Ruiz starting vs Coste starting should say it all.
July 6th, 2008 at 2:01 pm
Come on Howard get the team off to a good start. Get Kendrick some run support!
July 6th, 2008 at 2:02 pm
Dammit Howard! It’s up to Pat the Bat.
July 6th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
Great job by Kendrick getting out of that inning, maybe now we can get him some run support. I think scoring first is gonna be huge in this game.
July 6th, 2008 at 2:17 pm
What the hell was that play by Marlon Anderson? That was a freebie, gotta make them pay for that.
July 6th, 2008 at 2:37 pm
Anyone watching the Wimbledon finals too? It’s on NBC… so good. Fifth set just started.
July 6th, 2008 at 2:39 pm
that chavez catch was amazing
July 6th, 2008 at 2:40 pm
Nobody can get a runner over, come on Chase!
July 6th, 2008 at 2:49 pm
kendrick is struggling today. its good hes only given up one run, but hes gotta get through 6.
July 6th, 2008 at 2:51 pm
Yea, the tennis is exciting. But I was also watching the All-Star Selection. Just Utley and Lidge made it so far. Burrell is on the final ballot (along with David Wright, Aaron Rowand, Carlos Lee, and Corey Hart). Hamels was snubbed.
July 6th, 2008 at 2:54 pm
they are extending costes role because carlos ruiz is one of the worst hitters ive ever seen. you cant send ruiz out there more than once a series. maybe lou marson is ready by september? maybe some poor sucker team will pickup carlos ruiz for like a batting practice pitching machine.
also, ruiz is calling a terrible game today. kendrick isnt on top of his game today, but still, ruiz is calling everything out of whack today.
July 6th, 2008 at 3:04 pm
I can’t BELIEVE Wagner got picked by Hurdle over Hamels. Am I missing something? He has 4 blown saves!
July 6th, 2008 at 3:06 pm
Also, Burrell’s stats are flat out better than Ludwick’s.
July 6th, 2008 at 3:08 pm
Dennis Eckersly still rocking the ’stache!
July 6th, 2008 at 3:10 pm
looks like milwaukee came back with an improved offer for sabathia.
July 6th, 2008 at 3:12 pm
were not getting him. theyre offering laporta plus two other of their top prospects. thats more than anyone else has offered. maybe the rays come in and up the ante but i dont see the phillies beating that offer.
time to focus on other guys
July 6th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
that is indeed total bull that hamels was omitted in favor of billy wagner?
July 6th, 2008 at 3:18 pm
there we go ruiz get us going.
July 6th, 2008 at 3:21 pm
Wow, the Mets pitching has totally dominated us. This is nasty.
July 6th, 2008 at 3:45 pm
how did ramierez get the reserve 3b spot over david wright…stats wise, wright tops him in every major category
July 6th, 2008 at 4:02 pm
The Mets look great… damn.
July 6th, 2008 at 4:07 pm
Wright vs Burrell in the vote is bad news for Burrell
July 6th, 2008 at 4:10 pm
Wow, nice of you to show up today, JC
July 6th, 2008 at 4:12 pm
way to get picked off rook..lol
July 6th, 2008 at 4:18 pm
Utley crushes another ball, hahah
July 6th, 2008 at 4:24 pm
rain delay….good for mets, bad for phillies.
July 6th, 2008 at 4:36 pm
Looks like Burrell and Hamels will get snubbed…Wright will make the ASG.
July 6th, 2008 at 4:37 pm
I think it is bad for the Muts who just warmed up their lefty specialist and now he has to sit and get warmed up again. Hopefully Feliciano gets tired and is ineffective.
July 6th, 2008 at 4:46 pm
Yeah, and the Phillies can go in the club house and get psyched up to win this huge game.
July 6th, 2008 at 5:03 pm
I’m glad hamels didnt make the team. I always worry about pitchers getting tired in an ASG.
Any timetable to resume this game?
July 6th, 2008 at 5:07 pm
no, its bad for phillies, cause now theres no rush from the umpires to start the game again, they can decide to call the game and the mets win it.
July 6th, 2008 at 5:10 pm
looking at radar….the rain should be outta here by 5:20 or so.
July 6th, 2008 at 5:15 pm
Rain Delays…….great opportunity to enjoy a refreshing BL Lime…..yummy.
July 6th, 2008 at 5:18 pm
Haha, thanks Gavin. Hey, some days you gotta recommend crap.
By the way, just had some nice grilled steak and enjoying my third Circus Boy of the day. About to go out on the deck and enjoy the evening here in Avalon.
July 6th, 2008 at 5:30 pm
It’s been sunny in manayunk for the last 45 minutes – can’t believe it’s still pouring at the stadium.
July 6th, 2008 at 5:33 pm
That Circus Boy is good stuff, but the folks at Magic Hat always do a good job. Hopefully this game starts again soon. I’d sure hate to see it called while we have a scoring threat only down 1.
July 6th, 2008 at 5:38 pm
Magic Hat # 9 is an awesome beer.
July 6th, 2008 at 6:18 pm
what’s the status of the game?
July 6th, 2008 at 6:19 pm
Kendrick pitched very well in this one, with the exception of the Beltran homer but our offense couldnt move a runner. The game was hard to watch.
July 6th, 2008 at 6:30 pm
Still a delay…I think they’re gonna try to finish this one.
July 6th, 2008 at 6:31 pm
I wonder if this is gonna be called
July 6th, 2008 at 6:32 pm
Watching ESPN SS……… They just broke in with BREAKING NEWS….stopped evereything to announce………….drum roll……………….Johnny Damon is going on the DL. (Gasp) Then they did it again to announce…….Arod’s wife is filing for divorce!!!!! (Double Gasp).
I hate to say it b/c I watch it more than any other channel….but ESPN has become a tabloid shitty ass TV network. If there was another game in town I would be all for watching it rather than watching REDSOX/YANKEES Cable network.
God I hate ESPN.
July 6th, 2008 at 6:34 pm
Also…..I guess I’m feeding the beast here…….Buster Olney says that MIL and Cle are pretty much a done deal for CC. Gillick is still “lurking in the shadows” for some reason. Gillick is a creepy dude.
July 6th, 2008 at 7:09 pm
Wow, the flooding at the Vault is unbelievable.
July 6th, 2008 at 7:12 pm
Gavin I agree that ESPN is nothing more then a Sox affiliate. They are on tv more then any other team (tonight and tomorrow). And they are getting all of the talk this weekend!
BACK TO THE GAME!
July 6th, 2008 at 7:15 pm
The inevitable takes three hours: Howard strikes out on the same three pitches yet again.
July 6th, 2008 at 7:17 pm
Does anyone else think he should just start his stance hunched over, waiting to fling the bat out? I’m sure it would save him alot of time.
July 6th, 2008 at 7:23 pm
ok now im pissed. the mets bullpen is GARBAGE. i cant believe theyve been getting shut down by them two nights in a row.
July 6th, 2008 at 7:24 pm
you cannot lose to this team. this team sucks. must win this game.
July 6th, 2008 at 7:24 pm
There went our chance. Looks like we need Eaton to help us split. Un fucking believable.
July 6th, 2008 at 7:26 pm
Heilman is garbage; that was a weak swing by Feliz. Can’t believe it ended that poorly. Why can’t they get one run?
July 6th, 2008 at 7:26 pm
i dont feel comfortable with that anymore. i know eaton has a thing with the mets. but he still sucks.
wagner does blow saves though. maybe hell do it again
July 6th, 2008 at 7:28 pm
because they all take home run rips. instead of shortening up their swing to make contact they take a huge jack at the ball trying to hit it into the parking lot. cant do that
July 6th, 2008 at 7:31 pm
They can’t get the run in because this is not a good baseball team. I’m sick of this.
July 6th, 2008 at 7:34 pm
Feliz and Jenkins (especially jenkins) were absolutely ridiculous signings. To think that money could have gone to Lohse or something else.
July 6th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
they cant afford to lose this game and have to rely on adam eaton tomorrow. you cannot allow the mets to split here let alone take 3 of 4. if eithe rhappens they have a SERIOUS emergecy and the pitching, which has to be addressed anyway, now isnt the biggest problem. its become this lineup which comes up small a lot lately.
July 6th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
feliz actually isnt as bad as jenkins. jenkins is a worthless piece of garbage. totally pointless wreckless signing.
July 6th, 2008 at 7:38 pm
oh, and they gave taguchi a million bucks for this season!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
July 6th, 2008 at 7:41 pm
dont let carlos ruiz swing at the ball. just its safer to let him watch three strikes than GIDP
July 6th, 2008 at 7:42 pm
garbage. total piece of garbage ruiz.
July 6th, 2008 at 7:44 pm
Agreed Geoff, I liked the Feliz signing. Hes got a good glove at third in which we’ve missed since Rolen and his bat isnt half bad. Hes average at the seven spot.
July 6th, 2008 at 7:45 pm
this umpire has been calling that a strike all day. thats NOT a strike. low and outside. hes done that like 10 times today. terrible
July 6th, 2008 at 7:46 pm
HOLY SHIT JAYSON WERTH!!!
July 6th, 2008 at 7:46 pm
YEAH DAWG!!!
July 6th, 2008 at 7:46 pm
YES!!!! blown save
July 6th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
I TOLD EVERYONE IN MY HOUSE WERTH WOULD HIT IT OUT! HAHAHAHAHAH!
July 6th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
Yessssssssssssssssssssss. He is WERTH it.
July 6th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
how is wagner an all star. thats 5 blown saves
July 6th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
haha Nobody is home in my house, but I said it to myself if that counts.
July 6th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
Seriously, I said Vic would single, Ruiz would move him over, Brunt would single and Werth would win it. CLOSE but OH WELL!
July 6th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
6 blown saves i mean
July 6th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
If they get a walk off win here, who immediately has this as their favorite win of the year??
July 6th, 2008 at 7:50 pm
6 blown saves and hes an all star? whaaaaaaat? bad selection. hamels and a couple of other guys got the shaft there
July 6th, 2008 at 7:51 pm
hahahahahhahaha all star my ass
July 6th, 2008 at 7:52 pm
Wagner blows dick. I LOVE seeing the Mets fans reactions to that homer.
July 6th, 2008 at 7:52 pm
madson better not fuck this up
July 6th, 2008 at 7:54 pm
Harry Kalas’s call was pretty terrible for that HR. It took him almost the entire ball flight to realize it was way out. Then he almost said right center field. I still love it, but his fly ball judgments are terrible this year.
July 6th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
yes. the mets fans are total bottom feeding rodents. no class at all.
July 6th, 2008 at 7:57 pm
i wonder what piece of bullpen junk the mets will send out there.
July 6th, 2008 at 7:57 pm
As long as we still have Dobbs on the bench…
July 6th, 2008 at 7:59 pm
CC has been traded to Milwaukee according to ESPN.
July 6th, 2008 at 7:59 pm
yeah the phillies had no shot at that. they gave up laporta, who is a guaranteed stuf, and a few other guys.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
2 k’s for madson…nice
July 6th, 2008 at 8:06 pm
They need to win this game. Keep those pesky Mets under .500
Jayson Werth is the most clutch guy on this team.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:07 pm
Howard k’d…..didnt see that coming.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:07 pm
showenweis is total junk too. but so is jenkins.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:07 pm
Jenkisn goes yard right here.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
GIDP RUIZ!
July 6th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
Jenkins k’d?…..didnt see that coming. He is facing Schowenweis….so….
July 6th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
Geoff. Feliz is worth every penny. Look at that single bottom of the 10th. That’s nice.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
Feliz k’s right here.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
2 K’s… awesome explosive middle of the order.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
Vic pops out to RF here.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
Great…man on 1st and 2nd Carlos Ruiz is up.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
here we go Victorino
July 6th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
big inning
July 6th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
jenkins is one of the worst signings ive ever seen in phildelphia sports. they gave him 5mm this year, 6.75mm next year, and an 8mm option. what? for this slop? they need to get this guy out of here in the offseason by hook or crook. just pay him to go away, seriously, becuause noone will want him.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
Good, bring in a righty…Ruiz does hit righties better. If he can get walked or a single that doesn’t score Feliz you can bring Dobbs off the bench to face the righty.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:11 pm
Ruiz….groundball to Reyes right here.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
yeah i said that he wasnt the problem, feliz i mean, i said you should be pissed about jenkins, not feliz. feliz is also signed cheaply for a few more years
July 6th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
Dobbs shoul PH right here. No reason to wait.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
it might be safer to pinch-hit dobbs for ruiz and allow werth to be the emergency catcher because he can catch.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
Yeah, we got Feliz for cheap IMO.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
i can barely watch this at bat
July 6th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
Two clutch hits by victorino in back to back innings
July 6th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
Did you guys see Pat the Bat giving Ruiz advice? He is part of the core. They have to resign him.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
Silver lining, already 2 outs, so no GIDP
July 6th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
FUCK!!! He did hit it hard at least.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
oh no god, hes is worthless. can we maybe ship him out of ehre this year? DFA that guy. hes one of the worst hitters ive ever seen in professional baseball.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
beat me to it, NEPA
well played, sir.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
im serious. just pay ruiz to get out of sight. bring up the kid, in the middle of a race which isnt the best time to do it, but still, just, i cant watch that piece of scrap go to the plate anymore.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
Why not hit Dobbs there anyone? Fuck the whole…….you dont want to use up your back up ctahcer…..shit.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
ok we have to get through this half inning scott free because tony armas jr is throwing for the mets, and that guy is HORRIBLE
July 6th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
Why not bring up Marson. It’s not like he’d have a lot of pressure on him. He’s taking over for the worst hitting catcher in baseball and he’d be hitting eighth in a very potent offense.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:20 pm
yeah i say go for it. i dont think ruiz will make it through the year. hes too bad of a hitter and coste doesnt have the stamina to go everyday
July 6th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
nice work by chad durbin
July 6th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
Chad “Dim the Lights” Durbin is an animal. I love the guy. Let’s finally beat up on this Met’s bullpen this inning.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
Ruiz is the worst offensive catcher in baseball, not worst catcher in baseball.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
Good Job Chad!
July 6th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
I’m feeling a Dobbs walk off.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Joe Durbin…are you really his dad?
July 6th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
Damn, I jinxed that…
July 6th, 2008 at 8:27 pm
um, our best pinch hitter isnt supposed to swing at that garbage.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
No, that’s J.D.’s dad cheering on a real pitcher.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
Yes, I was in Philly a couple of weeks ago.
Actually to see my grandson, but had the pleasure of seeing Chad too.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
“Dim the Light’s” Durbun (c) me
haha none of my friends like that but i’m glad everyone here does
July 6th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
Werth K’s here.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
This is a tough match up for Werth, but he’s making him pitch.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
JD’s parents live in the Phoenix area too. If he made the team when they played here I was going to find out if we were distand relatives, as some family moved west years ago.
He looks like a couple of cousins I remember from being a little kid.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
Utley pops up here.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
do you want an award if you correctly predict the negative result?
July 6th, 2008 at 8:33 pm
like, do you feel good now?
July 6th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
Christ, lead off walk. Almost never ends well.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:40 pm
God damnit. There goes this game.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
Never say die
July 6th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
Phils lose this game for one big reason: Carlos Smalltime Ruiz. Never comes through in the clutch. sucks
July 6th, 2008 at 8:44 pm
Someone should drill him later this season what the hell was that reaction with your arms up game ain’ over yet douche bag
July 6th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
I think taking out Burrell for a pinch runner was worse than Ruiz.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
The most lights out guy in our bullpen let up 3 runs.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
Durbin is human.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
guys*
July 6th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
I would have to agree Carlos “The Inning Killer” Ruiz sucks…you minus well get somebody out of the stands to hit for that moron.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
Mr. Clutch, Geoff Jenkins everyone.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
3-1 and thats the pitch you swing at…..the man has no plan at the plate. This aint the fucking HR derby anymore.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
Joe Smith should goto the ASG in place of Old Man wagner.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
boy feliz had a hanger there
July 6th, 2008 at 8:53 pm
Tough loss.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
Unfuckinbelievable
July 6th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
this game makes me sick
July 6th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
you cant get down on that loss.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
durbin doesn’t lose the game if Ruiz delivers a single with a man on 2nd in the 11th. I didn’t watch the whole game, but there was another spot in the later innings where he flew out to center on the first pitch…take a pitch you idiot. there were men on base, the mets pitcher at that point wasn’t throwing well…
Ruiz is absolute garbage…hitting .208 or worse.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
And the mets own us
July 6th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
well, yes you can, you go down about 1 game in the standings.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
Just a tough loss. You can blame Ruiz, Durbin, Feliz, etc., but all in all, they shouldn’t have been in this one for this long.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
How the hell are we losing these games?
July 6th, 2008 at 8:56 pm
thats the offenses fault. for failing to hit that junk mets bullpen
July 6th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
they just better get the series split tomorrow night, or they are in a world of trouble…will let the mets back to 2.5 back.
what an awful loss tonite…they could have really killed the mets psyches for the rest of the year…instead they just gave the idiot mets a TON OF CONFIDENCE. not what was needed.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
junk mets bullpen? the same bullpen that beat the angels? the rangers? and now the phillies?
July 6th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
Well you have two outs at the bottom of the lineup every time you start that fucking idiot Ruiz…he has no clue when he bats…you will start to see the Ruiz shift and put everybody on the right side he could not pull Jamie Moyer…the guy flat out sucks
July 6th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
i’m telling you, had the phils won tonite, the mets would have laid down dead tomorrow…no question, i live in Northern NJ and i see it all the time with the mets.
now, the mets have confidence, and tons to play for tomorrow.
July 6th, 2008 at 8:59 pm
ruiz has got to go…
July 6th, 2008 at 9:04 pm
Mets fans are some of the lamest fans in the world.
They neat their ass beat. On principle.
July 6th, 2008 at 9:06 pm
Joshua, I realize that you can get down a game, I meant mentally. Try not to take it so literal.
July 6th, 2008 at 9:09 pm
haha, i know, i was joking…but seriously, adam eaton vs pedro martinez..this is prob gonna be a freaking 12-13 game tomorrow
July 6th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
That’ll teach you to have Bud Light Lime as the gameday beer.
July 6th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
I really want to see Marson this year, more than I want a starter. Thats alot.
July 6th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Once again, great move getting Pat Burrell out when we had a bases loaded and 2 outs situation for Pedro Feliz! We didn’t need his bat in the extra innings at all!
July 6th, 2008 at 9:16 pm
I think the Phillies signed Lidge to get Myers to realize he’s not going to be a closer for this team. Good move by Gillick. It killed 2 birds with 1 stone.
July 6th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
Is Myers pitching for AAA tomorrow? Anyone know?
July 6th, 2008 at 9:31 pm
Runshouse: You have to use a better reality TV series as your handle.
July 6th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
Yes, Myers is starting tomorrow in Allentown at 7:05…opposite Louisville’s Homer Bailey, rated by Baseball America as the top pitching prospect in Cincinnati’s organization.
July 7th, 2008 at 12:46 am
did u hear tom gordon is on the DL? i read it on comcast sportsnet, thats prolly for the best
July 7th, 2008 at 1:35 am
Well Tim, I’ve used this handle long before that show mostly in reference to the song as used in the movie Dogma… so it is easy for me to remember…
I am an admited Mets fan but have no interest in trash talking here, especially from 3rd place…
I like reading the posts and comments mainly to learn about the Phils Pharm and any moves they make…
I most definately won’t be trolling because it’s a pretty awesome site.
Pleasure to meet ya.
