Gamenight: Mets (44-44) At Phillies (48-41)
Posted by Tim Malcolm, Mon, July 07, 2008 06:09 PM
Tonight is a pretty important game in that the Phillies don’t want to lose three of four to the Mets. At home. With the All-Star break on the dashboard.
So they’ll send Big Game Eaton to the hill. Mr. Eaton is coming off an effective win over Atlanta and is facing a team he has good numbers against (5-0, 3.29 ERA). Meanwhile, Pedro Martinez is having a bad year for the Mets. He’s notching a Myersian 7.39 ERA. Of course, against this offense he could look more like Lincecum. But we’ll see.
Jimmy Rollins, who makes a killing from the Mets misfortunes, has only two hits in this series so far. And Pat Burrell is currently third in the NL Final Vote, behind Corey Hart and David Wright. VOTE BURRELL.
Phillies: Adam Eaton (3-6) 4.79 ERA
Mets: Pedro Martinez (2-2) 7.39 ERA
Gametime: 7:05 p.m. EST
Weather: 82, possible storms
Lineup: Rollins/Victorino/Utley/Howard/Burrell/Dobbs/Werth/Coste/Eaton

Your gamenight beer: As my face peels and I get set for a night at the bars, I’ll crack open this highly potent offering, Merry Monks’ Ale. From the Weyerbacher Brewery in Easton, this ale is deceptive. With its many spices it tastes like a winter warmer, but it’s actually a spring/summer beer. And it’s incredibly high in alcohol content (almost 10 percent). Yeah, this’ll get you ripped. And you might need it tonight.
Go Phillies!

I predict a 4-1 win, with Eaton going 7 strong leaving with the game tied at 1. Big homer for Pat the bat in the late innings, leading to a substantial number of all-star votes from neutral fans. Hopefully.
July 7th, 2008 at 6:42 pm
7-5 Phillies. Mets beat up Eaton for 4 over the course of six but we have the lead thanks to a poor Pedro start. We start the game with 2 in the first.
July 7th, 2008 at 7:14 pm
Prediction: Mets win by 3. Maybe 5-2 or 6-3. Eaton pitches OK except for one pretty big inning. Phils offense continues to struggle.
July 7th, 2008 at 7:21 pm
Close with the 2 first inning runs TJ, you just picked the wrong team.
July 7th, 2008 at 7:21 pm
Oh, adam eaton gives up early runs, what a surprise. we will see clay condrey tonight unless eaton gets it together because chad durbin is not available.
July 7th, 2008 at 7:24 pm
Did anyone see a replay to see if Utley tagged Chavez? The Mets biased broadcasters didn’t really go into it…
July 7th, 2008 at 7:25 pm
I predict the Phillies score 1 run tonight
July 7th, 2008 at 7:27 pm
The Mets own us the way we own the Braves
July 7th, 2008 at 7:30 pm
well it isnt too hard when youre sending adam eaton out there. i cant watch this guy. i will not back down on eaton. hes garbage even if hes doing ok this year.
July 7th, 2008 at 7:31 pm
Yeah, after tonight they’ll be 2.5 half behind us and they’ll have won 7 of 10 against us. They’re the favorites to win the division. Sad, but true. the Phillies had a chance to bury them, oh well….
July 7th, 2008 at 7:32 pm
theres no excuse for not lighting up washed up old pedro tongiht. no excuse. if they fail to do that its unaccpetable.
July 7th, 2008 at 7:36 pm
Agreed. They gotta just pounce on Pedro in these next few innings and put the Mets in their place a little. I really don’t like the idea of having to play 3 vs. the Cards and the DBacks after losing 3 straight to the Mets. As much of a must win game as you can have at this point in the season.
July 7th, 2008 at 7:37 pm
Nickname the Phillie: Adam Eaton – Piece of shit
July 7th, 2008 at 7:40 pm
Last night –
Chad told me though it was a good pitch that was hit for the home run, he thought his two previous pitches had increased the bat speed and he should have made a better pitch selection for that pitch.
Don’t ask me! It looked like a good pitch that just got tagged.
Go Phillies!
July 7th, 2008 at 7:40 pm
Good night Phils. I think this team is in serious trouble.
July 7th, 2008 at 7:41 pm
To be honest, the Phillies offense has been putrid. They’ve scored 3, 4 and 2 runs in a hitter’s park against the Mets. They are lucky to have won one.
July 7th, 2008 at 7:42 pm
This one is over, and it’s looking like we’ll be chasing the Muts again this year. Just disgusting. We’re no longer the favorites to win this division.
July 7th, 2008 at 7:44 pm
we phucking blow…good teams find a way to win…we’ll see if this team has some fight in them
July 7th, 2008 at 7:47 pm
I’m not gonna go and say the Mets are the team to beat in the division. They’ve been extremely inconsistent in all aspects this year and can’t seem to put together a winning streak except against the Phils. Every team in this division has a lot of flaws.
July 7th, 2008 at 7:48 pm
Eaton fucking sucks. I dont care about his “quality starts” stat, he gives up runs in the 1st inning in basically every game he pitches. I am so so so sick of him.
July 7th, 2008 at 7:49 pm
Its not like the Doom & Gloom scenarios in NY are all melting away with two (or even three if tonight continues as it started) wins. Don’t lose faith. Neither team is playing all that great. I may be a Mets fan and I’ll root for the Mets to win in the end, but I love that the season means so much for both of these teams when they face each other. Its a looooong season. Its much more fun when it actually matters.
July 7th, 2008 at 7:52 pm
to have your starter give up 5 runs in by the second inning is revolting.
July 7th, 2008 at 7:53 pm
The Mets have good pitching, and they shut us down this series. We got lucky to beat them in game 1. This could of easily been a 4 game sweep.
July 7th, 2008 at 7:54 pm
the number two guy we get should replace eaton not happ
July 7th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
LOL I’m sure Coste will get something to hit.
July 7th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
what do we know about the phils? they dont hit good starting pitching even if its overrated pedro or sloppy oliver perez
July 7th, 2008 at 7:55 pm
Who the hell is gonna pitch the rest of these innings if Eaton is out by 2 or 3 IP? Seanez/Condrey/Madson? Lord help us.
July 7th, 2008 at 7:56 pm
condrey
July 7th, 2008 at 7:57 pm
He’s all over the place, Wheels, cause the pitchers up next. Even the announcers are in a slump.
July 7th, 2008 at 7:57 pm
if adam eaton gets yanked today hes gotta be DFA and shipped out of here. inexcuseable. just pay him to get out of my site.
July 7th, 2008 at 7:58 pm
Wheels is not in a slump he is a retard…a know it all pompas ass!! he drives me crazy
July 7th, 2008 at 7:58 pm
can we forfeit this game and save our middle relievers for tomorrow?
July 7th, 2008 at 8:00 pm
That’s a good idea Griffin.
Why can’t the Phils start a fight? Does anyone think this is a bad idea?
July 7th, 2008 at 8:00 pm
can rj swindle pitch more than one inning?
July 7th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
HIT DELGADO
July 7th, 2008 at 8:01 pm
A fight may be a good idea…or at least plunk wright or gay reyes
July 7th, 2008 at 8:02 pm
get this bum out of my sight and off my team. look at these pitches hes grooving up in the middle of the plate. just serving them up.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:03 pm
bean reyes pleasze next time around. i cant stand that punk. total punk.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:03 pm
What would hitting Wright or Reyes accomplish? Other than being a fun sight for a Phillies fan?
July 7th, 2008 at 8:04 pm
Charlie has to do something to fire this team up. We’re dull as hell right now. Start arguing and get ejected or throw at someone.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:04 pm
exactly. fun.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:04 pm
Pedro’s ERA was over 7 to start this game. EVERYONE has smashed him this year. Wow.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:04 pm
The Mets have always had the talent to win and be competitive. It looks like they just picked now to start firing on all cylinders. 6-0 in the 3rd. Wow. It’s going to be a long All Star break.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:04 pm
yes! charlie needs to get thrown out. he hasnt been thrown out since like may
July 7th, 2008 at 8:05 pm
Losing three out of four to an awful Mets team is inexcusable. Instead of putting the Mets out of their misery, they let them right back into the race (as well as the Marlins). The Wild Card will almost undoubtably come from the Central, so these games are very important. They have a real team coming in next, so it just gets harder. This team is in trouble.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:06 pm
can we send adam eaton out therre again? really. please! 7-0 in three innings! and you see why dobbs isnt an everyday player….
July 7th, 2008 at 8:06 pm
I’ve been saying all year that Dobbs belongs on the bench. No matter how well he pinch hits, he should stay exactly that. A solid pinch hitter.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:06 pm
Even Pedro hits Eaton hard!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
HAHAHAHA, this is getting comical
July 7th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
At this point point I hope Adam Eaton pitches a complete game. Let him give up 40 hits/30 runs. Who the hell cares, save the bullpen arms and let this piece of trash wear himself out.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
Just keep Eaton out there. The damage has been done. Let him go 5 and try not to kill our bullpen for the Cards.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:08 pm
this is horrible!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
wow, just wow
July 7th, 2008 at 8:09 pm
NOOO! Don’t take Eaton out! Last night, I bet him that he couldn’t get pulled before the 4th inning. Now I’m gonna owe him a dollar!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
Well atleast we’re tiring Condrey for the next series.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
thats one of the worst performances ive ever seen. 8 RUNS! in 2.2 innings! get off my team you piece of garbage junk pitcher! get out! take your 7mm this year, 8mm next year 9mm option (500k buyout) and get out. just pay him off to go away.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:10 pm
Maybe Myers and Eaton have developed significant drug addictions. Has anyone checked into this?
July 7th, 2008 at 8:12 pm
Yea, its called sucking dick. They both blow so hard.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
wow. what can you do from here? thats disturbing. solve one problem and another one pops up
July 7th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
Well if they are, I want some. Because Myers is having “fun” down in the minors and Eaton doesn’t seem to give a shit. Must be nice.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:13 pm
A Eaton 2.2 10 8 6 1 1 0 68-41
July 7th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
10 hits in 2.3 innings.. Wow!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
adam eaton doesnt make another start for this team. no f’ing way. theres no excuse for that.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:14 pm
I am fully watching the Iron Pigs on tv right now over the Phils. Myers looks good. Bailey looks better.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
Jesus, this just completely ruins my night. What the hell do I do now? Any suggestions on what you guys will be doing other than watching this shit show?
July 7th, 2008 at 8:15 pm
Pedro is owning…
July 7th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
myers gone, eaton gone. thats like 16mm of dead, black hole money.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:16 pm
Red Sox game. I have to enjoy some quality pitching after that. Dice-K vs. Scott Baker is a good one.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
I’m going to run to the mall real quick and buy a mets jersey
July 7th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
This game is a total train wreck! Maybe now is a good time to catch up on some ON DEMAND soaps! When Condrey is batting in the 3rd inning, you know things are bad!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:17 pm
Maybe we’ll all get to see an Utley or Howard garbage time HR??
July 7th, 2008 at 8:18 pm
I have a feeling that Charlie’s going to go ballistic after this one…
July 7th, 2008 at 8:19 pm
So…. who wants the tickets that I bought about three hours ago for the Wednesday game? I dont even feel like going after watching 2 innings of tonights game.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
Throw a ball at Jose Reyes and start a brawl….Gee,That’d be like throwing a rock at a hornets nest. Now we all know what happens when you do that; Bzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
I actually have tickets to the all-star game. Worst seats in the house, 200 bucks face value. I’m thinking of selling it but worried that my employer may find out. Plus, Yankee Stadium is a urine-scented rat hole.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:21 pm
Where is the usual group of dolts with the “Adam Eaton is underrated” chatter? Don’t tell me you guys stopped swinging from his meat-rack already. However, now would be a good time considering his soul is an appauling dump heap and he still walks around the dugout with termites in his smile.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
Since this game is bringing back memories of the shit years….lets think back and remember some of the assholes we used to have on this team!! ie..Ricky Otero, Kim Batista, Jeff Stone, Todd Frohwirth….remember it could be worse
July 7th, 2008 at 8:23 pm
I’ll defend Adam Eaton! Who needs Sabathia when we have him?
July 7th, 2008 at 8:24 pm
Two weeks until training camp! Woo!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:25 pm
But Kim Batiste had a big hit in game 1 of the NLCS in ‘93 (after his big error), who is going to back up Dave Hollins?!?!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
Shit lets make him a coach or a TV color man we did it with all the shitty players
July 7th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
oh, i dont even give a damn about the smut-ridden garbage that the nfl has become.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:26 pm
I was a big Luis Agauyo fan and now he’s the 3rd base coach for the Muts.
Random note: i just turned on american gladiators and there is a 20 something year old girl going up against an Asian Grandma. It’s remarkably odd and overwhelming unfair. Enjoy.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
now there are dolphins talk to Hulk Hogan, I swear to God I think i’m on acid.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:28 pm
Im 30 now and my favorite phillies growing up were of course Schmidt, Milt Thompson and Kruker
July 7th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
I love watching old Asian women compete in athletics.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
We have one fucking hit
July 7th, 2008 at 8:29 pm
This is the inning, guys.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:30 pm
this team is SO overrated. ar eyou seriuos that they lose 3/4 to this bunch of old stiffs?
July 7th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
YES! chase ensures that they dont get shutout.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:31 pm
Sixto Lescano
Don Carman
Jeff Parrish
Sil Campusano
Ivan Dejesus
Pat Combs
what a collection of slop
July 7th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
I just saw someone in a Phils uniform hit a HR. I think I’m the one on acid.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:32 pm
Haha! I predicted an 8-0 solo shot! I knew Chase had it in him!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:34 pm
Chase: you are clutch man! Wow! Big pressure shot into the night! Woo!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:35 pm
The ball girls are hot tonight!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:35 pm
This is the type of game where Howard and Burrell get a HR or two and pad their stats in meaningless spots. Can’t wait to see them.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:35 pm
Is it me, or does it seem like Ryan has a lot of good ABs in his strikeouts? He always seems to get to 3-2 and you think he might walk, and then he Ks
July 7th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
Holy shit, is that really Yoko Ono?!!! It really is, I’m not making it up. Yoko Ono is on american gladiators. This is unreal. If Yoko can do it, then the Phillies can do it, here comes a comeback!!!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:36 pm
The Asian grandma’s name is Yoko! You my friend are NOT on acid!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:37 pm
Are the ball girls supposed to be hot? I think they are because thats the only reason I can think of for putting a young woman down the line to field scalded line drives.

Brewer’s GM:
“We all want it to end,” Melvin said of the Brewers’ playoff drought, which stretches back to Game 7 of the 1982 World Series. “We’re going for it. There’s a lot of baseball left, but we’re playing well right now and we feel good about the team. …
“This is a huge boost to the fans, who have had a long drought here. Maybe they never thought that this kind of thing could happen. We felt we needed to go for it at this point. We feel this is a year that gives us a chance.”
July 7th, 2008 at 8:38 pm
it’s a yoko ono look-a-like named yoko! And there’s also a dolphin trainer, this show is stunnighly comical.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
Kevin Stocker
July 7th, 2008 at 8:39 pm
Maybe Gillick can sign Freddy Garcia for the stretch run…
July 7th, 2008 at 8:40 pm
Yeah Dobbs, swing at that first pitch
July 7th, 2008 at 8:40 pm
Here comes Johnny Wacko.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:41 pm
We have Kris Benson and his hot wife in the minors ready to pounce on the national league we dont need anybody!!! Especially with Eaton and Myers pitching the way the are!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:41 pm
I’m sick and tired of Sarge, McCarthy, and Wheels. They are a bunch of Jagoffs. What’s wrong with Harry and LA for 9 innings. I don’t understand why Sarge is always miffed with Wheels either. Wheels is a douche but Sarge is a piece of shit too and his son does Steroids
July 7th, 2008 at 8:42 pm
LOL That Guy
July 7th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
You speak to my heart
July 7th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
I agree I hate them….lets get LA drunk on tv instead of radio…harry carey did it for years why all of a sudden is it bad
July 7th, 2008 at 8:43 pm
Chris Coste is gonna jack one off
July 7th, 2008 at 8:45 pm
How do we improve the offense? Any ideas?
July 7th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
Shoot ruiz, jenkins, and feliz that should improve it.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
damn, 2 more left on base
July 7th, 2008 at 8:46 pm
We gotta get some help. Switching the line up around didn’t do anything and Charlie won’t commit to it.
Who can we get? Are we stuck with this inconsistency?
July 7th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
I don’t mind the announcers too much but I would love to have LA back in the TV booth. He wasn’t very good a few years back but since he’s gone to radio he’s gotten a lot better. I find myself laughing out loud listening to him.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:47 pm
Fuck Wheels! The company man he is! Fuck T-Mac too! He’ a closet Mets fan!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
It’s cool guys, the Rangers are losing 8-0 in the second as well to the Angels, we aren’t the only ones who suck out there.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
hes a closet something alright
July 7th, 2008 at 8:48 pm
Do these umps just want to destroy the Phillies dignity at this point? Coste did not swing on that.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:49 pm
jason bay might be too expensive after we get the ptichers we need. people have mentioned willy taveras. maybe xavier nady if hes healthy enough to be worth it.
they have to trade brett myers, adam eaton (Worthless).
July 7th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
Matt Holliday is reportedly available, but I don’t think the Phillies have the prospects to pull it off.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
Kenny, why would you shoot Feliz?
July 7th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
Hey Myers only let up 3 runs so far! He’s ready to come back!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:50 pm
Probably trying to go home as soon as possible, the game is over.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
Yoko Ono has drowned in the ball pit in Gladiator Arena. She reportedly took the Phillis offense with her.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
Myers is improving, slowly but steadily.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:51 pm
Harry Kalas + Larry Anderson = Cure For Insomnia
July 7th, 2008 at 8:52 pm
I say we trade Brett Myers to the Yankees for some autographed Roger Clemons baseball cards.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
I don’t think they’ll do it. Price is too steep. I heard a rumor that they were considering a Chuck Knoblauch rookie card for Myers.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:54 pm
This team will drive one to cut themselves.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
Can they stretch Condrey out to become a starter?
July 7th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
2 hits through 4 innings!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:55 pm
I’m back to the idea of blowing up the team.
July 7th, 2008 at 8:57 pm
I think that Nady would be a good fit but I think he is heading to Tampa Bay….I would use Jenkins, Meyers, and Eaton and dangle them to see what you would get out of them. Also dont forget that Matt Holiday may be out there….imagine that!!!
July 7th, 2008 at 8:58 pm
We’re not getting Matt Holliday…
July 7th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
So Taguchi just answered my question:
Is there any way So Taguchi could make me hate him more?
Yes.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:00 pm
Of course we’re not getting Matt Holliday.
We’re getting Paul Byrd, end of story.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:01 pm
Pretty hard to win games when your first 2 hitters are batting 260-270
July 7th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
Kenny, who the heck wants Myers, Jenkins, or Eaton??????????????????????????????????????????
July 7th, 2008 at 9:03 pm
So Taguchi’s mom was on American Gladiators. She sucked too.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:07 pm
^^^ Haha.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
Danny, tell me how Kenny could possibly answer that question.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
Myers will go to somebody who needs a closer, may not be a bad idea to get some prospects for him. Jenkins and Eaton will go to somebody who is on the bubble and may contend….we picked up Lohse last year when he had a loosing record and Jenkins will hit he is just not hitting as a platoon player. Also a pitcher that nobody is talking about is Garland…he is out there too.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:10 pm
55 MPH Curveball?? omfg… who didn’t see that homerun coming?
July 7th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
Did Swindle just throw the gyroball?
July 7th, 2008 at 9:11 pm
Jenkins, Myers, and Eaton will not get traded. None of them.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:12 pm
Did you guys hear A Rod’s wife filed for divorce?
July 7th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
aw man, that 52 mph curveball ended up in the stands. laced
July 7th, 2008 at 9:13 pm
I think we can trade Eaton, Myers, Swindle, and Jenkins for Holliday.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:14 pm
What contending team needs a closer?!
July 7th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
It seems as though Wright has cemented himself as the NL rep. Sorry Pat. I voted like 50 times in 2 days. That’s all I got.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
Oh my God. Really Danny?
July 7th, 2008 at 9:15 pm
I feel bad for Swindle. This is not the situation where he should be used. But if he gives a hit up to Delgado I’ll be calling for his head.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:16 pm
looks like swindle’s gonna be a real gem
July 7th, 2008 at 9:16 pm
Willie Randolphs is voting for Pat.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
LOL @ jeff
July 7th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
swindle is a loogy. doesnt look good against righties.
nice k against delgado though.
um, they HAVE to get rid of eaton, myers, jenkins. thats like 40mm+ of guaranteed dead money over the next few years. myers cant come back here. he has to be marketed as a reliever to someone this season. eaton and jenkins will have to have ther salaries eaten partially to get them out of here but hey when your GM signs bad contracts like that you have to get out of them anyway possible
July 7th, 2008 at 9:18 pm
Attaboy R.J.! lol!
July 7th, 2008 at 9:19 pm
yeah, definitely not to be used against righties
July 7th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
Swindle is a LOOGY. He can only pitch to lefties.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:20 pm
The Phillies are going to see if a LOOGY can go 4 innings tonight.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:21 pm
do you guys think gordon going on the DL makes it more likely they’ll make a run at Fuentes? they clearly have a hole there now in that 8th inning spot.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
They had a hole there all season with him there
July 7th, 2008 at 9:22 pm
Hopefully Fuentes can hit
July 7th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
Haha, i’m enjoying a lot of these comments tonight. This site is actually more entertaining when were getting smoked.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:25 pm
I’m not watching the game, but was there just a play at the plate?
July 7th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
this game makes me wanna cry i cant even watch it
July 7th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
i guess theyll go after bedard now. i heard him on a radio interview with mike missanelli today and i liked what i heard actually. i think he got a bad label in seattle. he said he can pitch deep into games. i guess you have to rely on his stuff. i was against getting him until i heard him on the radio and he sounded like not a complete douche. i guess thatll be ok.
after they they should take a run at fuentes. fabio castro and a few lesser prospects can get it done.
they need a cheap veteran hitter THIS year to add ot the squad. taveras or someone would be better than what we have in reserve now.,
July 7th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
pedro martinez nice hit up the middle off Swindle..2 rbis
July 7th, 2008 at 9:26 pm
Didn’t Bedard just miss a start like yesterday?
July 7th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
Wow, I called that one. Pad them stats Pat.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:28 pm
The garbage time homerun bash brothers strike!
July 7th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
yeah they held him out. thats a concern and it should lower his price. still though, my favorite guy is harden but thats not likely.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:29 pm
That was a tough one to call. I like to call that an “Abreu” home run.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:30 pm
aw man, this armas guy sucks. they better score like 6 runs off this guy.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
How about 8 runs?
July 7th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
Did you guys hear that A Rod is getting divorced?
(That’s the last time I’ll do that. I think.)
July 7th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
Myers went 7.1, gave up 2 ER, struck out 6, walked 2.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:32 pm
well i mean if he gives up 6 runs theyd outhgt to pull him by then right?
July 7th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
You guys ready for the comeback of the year?
July 7th, 2008 at 9:33 pm
oh yeha. look at this total slop. if they cannot score off him i will start saying that they flat out suck.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:34 pm
“Did you guys hear that A Rod is getting divorced?
(That’s the last time I’ll do that. I think.)”
She listed “extramarital affairs” as the reason. As if she didn’t know that he and Jeter have been “friends with benefits” since college.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:35 pm
Watching Red Sox on espn too…
Manny up. Bottom 8, runner on third, 0-0, 1 out… was there ever any doubt that he’d drive the run in?
July 7th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
aww come on jayson
July 7th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
Danny, hate to break it to ya but everyone knew and didn’t care the first time you said it. Let’s not make this into a Maury show.
Of course, ESPN broke it to us first from Red Sox and Yankees headquarters.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:36 pm
A Rod’s wife isn’t that hot, you know? I mean, she’s like a 9.. kind of a manish face. Do you guys agree?
July 7th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
thats why i dont want the cubs to win. they will shove the cubs down our throats over at espn even more than they shove the red sox and the yankees
July 7th, 2008 at 9:37 pm
yes, agree. He could do much better (Jeter).
July 7th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
oh my goodness. this guy struck out werth and coste. tahts totally sickening
July 7th, 2008 at 9:38 pm
Yeah TJ, it’s a joke, geek-meister!
July 7th, 2008 at 9:39 pm
TJ, do your friends call you “T-Gay”?
July 7th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
BRUNTLETT TIME!
July 7th, 2008 at 9:41 pm
It obviously wasn’t a joke if you mentioned it twice, reeking of desperation to talk about it. And sorry dude, they don’t.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:42 pm
are we about to have a computer clearing brawl
July 7th, 2008 at 9:45 pm
Yes, TJ vs. danny, here we go.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:46 pm
The Phillies losing is turning us against each other!
Let us join in our hatred of all things Taguchi, Eaton and Myers!
July 7th, 2008 at 9:47 pm
It was a bad joke about A Rod, but T-Gay is a good joke, you gotta give it up. Not much to work with here.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
If Myers pitched tonight…..should we envision him replacing eaton in the rotation? All we are saying is give Happ a chance. John Lennon would agree.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:48 pm
saw that Arod pic of him and his wife on espn.com and much agreed on man face
July 7th, 2008 at 9:49 pm
def gotta give happ a chance. i dont ever want to see eaton again.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
Hopefully we’ll get Bedard, keep Happ pitching, and do something awful with Eaton and Myers.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:51 pm
I’ve always felt Eaton was the weakest link. I know he’s pitched better than Myers this year, but I’ve never felt comfortable with Eaton….ever. he blows up on nights like this.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
kendrick would be our only righty
July 7th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
The Brewers pulling the trigger early doesnt help our cause with SEA. Pricks.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:52 pm
can we all agree that none of us need to see eaton again and that they need to get another starter ASAP so we dont have to see eaton again?
July 7th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
Give my boy another chance!
July 7th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
i agree with Geoff and danny we do not need to see him again and do something bad to him
July 7th, 2008 at 9:54 pm
they did strike way early. i think the phillies need to do that as well though because the longer they wait the higher the price
July 7th, 2008 at 9:55 pm
charlies gotta get thrown out here
July 7th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
some idiot fan touched the ball, thats a homerun
July 7th, 2008 at 9:56 pm
getting interesting
July 7th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
yes. haha i wanted to see someone get tossed
July 7th, 2008 at 9:57 pm
Dude, umpires have the toughest jobs. Even the guys who ump my softball league games just get ripped all the time.
July 7th, 2008 at 9:58 pm
oops
July 7th, 2008 at 9:59 pm
Good thing Utley’s out of the game! Hahaha
July 7th, 2008 at 10:00 pm
This game is still over. 7 outs to get 5 runs – Not gonna happen.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:01 pm
Tim Malcolm really should not reach out for homerun balls like that, wasted on weyerbacher.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:02 pm
We got a chance NEPA!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
Texas was down 8-0 and now has the tying runs on base. Maybe there will be a comeback tonight afterall…..
July 7th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
Sorry about tonight guys! Me and So Tagguchi were mainlining Jack Daniels before the game!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:03 pm
Nice! We have two innings to score 5 runs! GOOSEBUMPS! LOL!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:07 pm
LOL
July 7th, 2008 at 10:08 pm
Don’t judge my boy!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:09 pm
hey not bad. a few decent innings of work by the first timer swindle.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
Gonna relive all the highlights of this game on Baseball Tonight right now
July 7th, 2008 at 10:10 pm
I’m giving Swindle a B- tonight! His first inning was dreadful! The other two were great! He struck out Delgato with a 54 mph curveball! CLASSIC!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:11 pm
Swindell is a lefty specialist and i like him alot in that role.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
yeah hes worth keeping around as the LOOGY
July 7th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
Dobbs, whatever you do, don’t take a pitch.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:12 pm
nice, that junkpile aaron heilman is in there now. hes good for coughing up a few more runs.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:14 pm
Swindell is he the guy striking alot of people out at allentown
July 7th, 2008 at 10:14 pm
Romero warming up?? Lets warm up Cole, too.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
heilman is one of those guys that everytime you see him on sportscenter hes giving up a key hone run
July 7th, 2008 at 10:15 pm
HAHAHAH “junkpile” what an awesome description
July 7th, 2008 at 10:16 pm
they better get at least one run out of this inning with him in there
July 7th, 2008 at 10:17 pm
Werth’s gonna get on base
July 7th, 2008 at 10:18 pm
Jenkins on deck!!
*Chills and Goosebumps*
July 7th, 2008 at 10:20 pm
what? oh no, jenkins
July 7th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
holy shit
July 7th, 2008 at 10:21 pm
YES!! that worthless bum! all or nothing indeed!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
God I hope that turns Jenkins around
July 7th, 2008 at 10:22 pm
Way to go Jenkins! Glad you can hit when we’re down 5 runs!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:23 pm
yes, theyre warming up schowenweis, another pile of junk
July 7th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
I played with Schowenweis in high school
July 7th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
Who else is glad that Utley is out of this game now?
July 7th, 2008 at 10:24 pm
indeed.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:25 pm
effin ump called that a strike? what’s with this guy and the late calls? it’s ridiculous!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:26 pm
God, that pitch was inside.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
Charlie Manual once again showing us that anyone…
ANYONE
can manage a baseball game.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:27 pm
I’m totally not expecting a comeback, but I give them credit for not making this the most embarrassing loss. They fought hard to get in the game!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
id love to see them get wagner again.
nice strike by pat
July 7th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
Yeah Wagner, warm up so you can pad those saves before the break
July 7th, 2008 at 10:28 pm
absolutely safe at second.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:30 pm
Do you guys agree that managing a major league baseball team takes less skill than managing a fantasy baseball team?
July 7th, 2008 at 10:31 pm
ok. time to get wagner another blown save.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
well my prediction from an earlier post was phillies lose by 3, but i thought it would be somewhere around 6-3, not this horseshit of a game
July 7th, 2008 at 10:35 pm
there we go Vic
July 7th, 2008 at 10:37 pm
Eric Bruntlett: Always confident at the plate
July 7th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
its time for howard to get his due on wagner.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:40 pm
Hopefully we have some dramatics here.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
This is why we hung in there for this game guys. Here we go.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:41 pm
I’ll be shocked if Howard makes solid contact with anything.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:42 pm
damn. i did not mean a K. come on pat its on you now.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:42 pm
Jesus christ Howard. Wagner just owns him though, can’t fault him too much. Pat the Bat time.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:42 pm
you cant be clutch when your swinging at balls in the dirt
July 7th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
Good/bad call NEPA. Howard to no surprise, strikes out.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:43 pm
damn. ok feliz. wager does throw high fastballs sometimes.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Dobbs, Geoff.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:44 pm
Feliz.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:45 pm
another heartbreaker…. or close to it
July 7th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
Feliz couldn’t do anything with those first two pitches, very good pitching by Wag.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
why do i get excited anymore.i know the outcome
July 7th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
wipe what i just said folks
July 7th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
I ask myself that too chris.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
Yes!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:47 pm
Holy shit. Don’t do this to me Phillies.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:48 pm
nvm
July 7th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
damnit. jayson, get a base hit. a homerun is not necessary to tie the game. just get it in there.
oh well. you cant have your starter spot 8 f-ing runs and expect to win!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
Moral victor………….blah blah
July 7th, 2008 at 10:49 pm
Interesting game to say the least.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
Whoa.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
Good call Geoff. That’s it. You said it.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
D’oh! Too bad there isn’t a prize for “almost.” A little too little, a little too late! HAHAHAHAHA!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:51 pm
Glad to see that bats come alive! Too bad our stiff fucking pitcher blew it! If ANYONE ELSE started, we would have had this one! FUCK FUCK FUCK! One more time! FUCK!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
ya fuck moral victory…as far as im concerned this is a bigger loss then anything… id rather be crushed not a heartbrreaking win
July 7th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
basically they wouldve beat the mets ass if that garbage, GARBAGE adam eaton wasnt on the team anymore.
how many FING chances are you going to give him!!!!!!!!!!!! HE FING SUCKS! ALL of last year he was TERRIBLE and he is a losing pitcher with an era over 5! GET THE F OFF MY TEAM AND OUT OF THIS CITY YOU FING BUM!!!!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:52 pm
Yep, this team can score 9 runs when we hit 4 or 5 homeruns- what team can’t?
July 7th, 2008 at 10:53 pm
They won’t let me in to Club Risque! I’m at the Holiday Inn if anyone wants to give me some sympathy!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:54 pm
I think The Phillies are going to be out of first place by the All-Star break. Last season was a gift (thanks, Mets) and this season is a tease. We are just not that good. Maybe next year?
July 7th, 2008 at 10:55 pm
Nickname a Phillie, Adam Eaton – ‘Dead Horse’ – because he gets beat, and beat and beat some more…
July 7th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
By the way… Where is Lenny Dykstra when we need him?
July 7th, 2008 at 10:56 pm
GET EATON OUT OF HERE NOW!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:57 pm
I’d rather have J.D. Durbin on the mound right now!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
now i’m nice and deflated to go to tomorrow’s game.
July 7th, 2008 at 10:58 pm
The Phillies SUCK!
July 7th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
2038 Will be a very good year for the phillies…………..
July 7th, 2008 at 10:59 pm
o well eaton has ALL these quality starts…hahaahaahahaha fuck that and fuck eaton
July 7th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
The Phillies are not a very good team. But neither is any other team in the division. The wild card is coming from the central so we just need to focus on the division. Every team is flawed.
July 7th, 2008 at 11:00 pm
The umps thought that was a home run!
waaahahahahah!
July 7th, 2008 at 11:01 pm
The umps thought that was a home run!
waaahahahahah!
I’ll take it.
July 7th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
In the words of the late great Bob Murphy “Mets win the DAMN thing by a score of 10-9″
July 7th, 2008 at 11:03 pm
I don’t know, NEPA. The Mets beat us and without 2/3 of their starting outfield. If they get back to 100% the division is theirs by 8 games, easy. They are just pacing themselves to prevent last years slide.
July 7th, 2008 at 11:05 pm
thats why the phillies need a starter, a reliever, AND another good outfielder.
July 7th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
Get the hell outta here. They’ve been a .500 team for more than a full season now. They’re just getting back to .500 now. They’ve been very inconsistent all season. Sure they play the Phillies well, but then they go and blow other series’. Like losing 2 of 3 to the Mariners at home. The Mets have to put together a solid week or two for me to start completely believing in them. Oh, and they’re bullpen blows.
July 7th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
I just punched Wheels in the nuts! That ball was atta here!
July 7th, 2008 at 11:06 pm
Magic Man,
Were the pacing themselves to the point their manager got axed?
July 7th, 2008 at 11:09 pm
The Phillies could go and win 4 or 5 out of the next 6 and we’ll all enjoy the All Star break. Ya never know. We’re in first place now and I think we’ll be either at or near the top the entire season. Should make for some great second half baseball.
July 7th, 2008 at 11:11 pm
thats the stupidest thing ive ever heard…pacing themselves… ur telling me they dont go out to win every game, they dont play 100% all the time? alot of people would take offense to that… including mets fans
July 7th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
Well, let’s hope the Pads can give us a hand tonight. I have a feeling we’ll win both of the next series. We’ve got Hamels 2 games and Kendrick, Moyer, and Happ. Eaton…ugh
July 7th, 2008 at 11:14 pm
I think he was joking about the pacing thing, at least I hope he was. They’re not pacing at all, its just the Mets’ attitude. Lifeless basically. I know a ton of Mets fans and they all say the same thing – the team has no fight. Every once in awhile we see the Phillies becoming a little lifeless (last few games up until mid-way through tonights game) but then they fight back and most times they come out firing again. The Mets don’t do that, they seem to play lifeless year round, with moments of fire.
July 7th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
k making sure
July 7th, 2008 at 11:18 pm
there better be talk of this. ok i guess theyll send eaton out again, ugh. i wouldnt but ill bet they still do. but i think that HAS to be it. after the all star break theres no more dicking around. no more bad start mulligans.
July 7th, 2008 at 11:19 pm
i mean i hope i hear them demanding eatons ousting.
July 7th, 2008 at 11:29 pm
So at that point we’d have Hamels, Kendrick, Moyer and Happ. Who do we bring in?
July 7th, 2008 at 11:30 pm
should of traded eaton when he was pitching well…traded him for cash considerations or player to be named later. guess gillick doesnt wanna admit a horrendous signing
July 7th, 2008 at 11:35 pm
The time to go all in is now. Trade the farm for a strong arm (example: The Brewers picking up this guy named Sabathia).
July 8th, 2008 at 12:04 am
Hypothetically speaking: how many runs and hits would Adam Eaton allow if Manuel said “F**K IT” and made him pitch all nine innings. I would say 16 runs and 22 hits. PS. Eaton, Myers, and Taguchi have 0.0000000000001% trade value. You could not acquire the negotiating rights to Sidney Ponson or even Chris Webber’s contract for that trio of dumpster divers. U might be able to move Jenkins to a desperate team but you won’t get any more than a Turk Wendell “signed loin cloth” in return.
July 8th, 2008 at 12:09 am
Question for any body still in focus tonight – how nice would it be to see Aron Rowand hitting behind Burrell?
I will pick up the vote count tomorrow and be there Thursday and Friday. sic – the Phils are 4-9 in games I have attended. But I’ll be there when the fire gets lit Go Phils!
July 8th, 2008 at 12:13 am
@ That Guy:
Comment of the night:
“You could not acquire the negotiating rights to . . . Chris Webber’s contract for that trio of dumpster divers.”
Chris Webber reference. Absolutely beautiful. And so damn true.
July 8th, 2008 at 12:21 am
I just got home from the game tonight and noticed a few things:
1) That was Eaton’s 1st real bad outing of the year. I’ll let it slide tonight.
2) 10-2 means nothing
3) Swindle’s 54 mph curveball was one of the greatest things that i have ever seen.
4) Why did charlie pull ultey out of the game?(even tho it ended up paying off with bruntlett against wagner)
5) Feliz batting for Dobbs was pure genuis.
6) Billy Wagner is the best player on our team. ( I love chanting Billlllllll-yyyyyyyyy)
7) They are truely the FIGHTIN’ phils
This was the best loss off the season.
July 8th, 2008 at 12:23 am
Hey “Chris M” – It’s “Should Have” not “Should Of”.
July 8th, 2008 at 12:26 am
And “Fran” it’s TRULY. You can drop the “E”.
July 8th, 2008 at 12:27 am
-Not to mention it’s “OF” the season, not “OFF” the season.
July 8th, 2008 at 12:28 am
I like this Swindle kid… I have a feeling Boras will be his agent, judging by his last name.
July 8th, 2008 at 12:31 am
That pic of Burrell up there is so HAWT! Brotherly love, indeed! Is he wearing cutoffs? A guy can dream, can’t he?
July 8th, 2008 at 12:33 am
ok i can see my english teacher is here tonight. I’m sorry if my 2 spelling errors affected my post in anyway
July 8th, 2008 at 1:34 am
adam eaton really need to get off of the team, even when he has given us quality starts everytime its his turn to pitch i was waiting for something like this to happen. He gives me no confidence everrr i dont understand why we give him so many chances? Bretts era & wins/losses were almost the same as eatons & id be shocked if the phillies do anything drastic with him like they did with myers, he makes me so maddddddd!!!!
July 8th, 2008 at 2:41 am
Fran Says:
July 8th, 2008 at 12:33 am
“ok i can see my english teacher is here tonight. I’m sorry if my 2 spelling errors affected my post in anyway”
OK Fran,Also Any/way can be separated…..Not trying to be a smartass, just trying to help. Lets Go Mets!
July 8th, 2008 at 3:50 am
Nice, Phillies are showing their true colors. Can’t win playing in that poor excuse of a major league ballpark called Citizen’s Bank Park. All teams have to do is score some runs and those teams with the starting pitching will hold the Phillies off. All that talk, and what do we have so far in 08? Mets are 7-3 against the soon to be out of first place Phillies. NICE INDEED!
July 8th, 2008 at 4:19 am
We have 1 quality starter. WHat do we expect when eaton starts? We will not win a series in the post season
July 8th, 2008 at 4:29 am
Eaton stinks. Too deep a hole, burned the offense to come back. No runs for the next 3 games???
July 8th, 2008 at 4:51 am
Too bad we can’t play the injured Braves everyday!

fuck off mets fans, get a life. 2.5 games up, that’s all i gotta say. You can beat our junk but you can’t beat Hollywood Hamels. 2 MVP’s in a row, defending division champs, leading the division even after a horrible slump. So get fucking stuffed and get a life instead of coming on Phillies blogs you tossers

The Mets are like a wounded beast and the Phils just poked at it and then gave it water and a blanket. Two things are sure here, The Mets will get better and the Phils have to play better as a team, there’s too many individual performances going on right now and the only part of the team working effectively as a unit is the bullpen.

poor excuse of a major league ballpark called Citizen’s Bank Park.???????????
One of the best ballparks in the Majors. Dont be mad that your new stadium looks just as good as shea does now

As a Met fan I am disgusted that Cole Hamels did not make the all-star team. That is f*ckin ridiculous. He pitches with a 3.28 ERA in a little league field basically and he gets no respect. I don’t know about you phillies fans, that is terrible.

lets give some kudos here to Rivlez for being a baseball fan first and not a complete douch like so many of the other Mets fans that have posted here. There seems to be 2 types of Mets fan, 1: the normal happy cheery person who happens to be unlucky enough to support the Mets and 2: Complete douchebags who’s command of the english language and debating skills make George Bush look like a Harvad scholar…
I fear this series will have an impact when we get down to the business end of the season. The Phils didn’t take thier chances when it mattered and played poorly as a team which impacted on the bullpen, it was going to get tagged at some point and our number was up not because they pitched poorly but the offense couldn’t come through when they were given the chance on sucessive nights. There was a great point in the season when the team was winning (and taking losses) without the drama and it’s time we got back to that.
Eaton’s all but done as a feature in this rotation as the FO will acquire a starter and Myers will be back up very soon. I hope we relegate Eaton to mop up but he’s looking as a surefire DFA to be released in the next 10 days or so.

I’m not reading philliesnation until this litter of stupidity washes away.
July 8th, 2008 at 9:17 am
Theyll have to pay him like 16mm + to go away too. but its worth it.
they also have to completely retool their lineup because its gotten stale. need a new everyday presence in the lineup who doesnt suck against good pitching. sorry but they do.
and of course they need a reliver and a starter and no, not brett myers.
this was a sickening loss of a series. the mets suck, toally suck and they took 3 of 4 in here because this lineup cant hit OLIVER PEREZ! and that other garbage. they actually got to santana which is strange and then sucked against the rest of it. they did hit well last night, but oh wait, adam eaton gave up 8 runs!rj swinle was more effective than adam eaton and actually should stay with this team.
Phillies = OVERRATED!

Fran – I have been to a few of Eaton’s games as well -
6/20 gave up 6 runs in 5 innings
5/17 gave up 4 runs in 5 innings
5/06 gave up 4 runs in 6 innings
4/20 gave up 4 runs in 5 innings
4/25 gave up 3 runs in 3.2 innings
Are you saying this level of mediocrity is acceptable?
“If our starter can hold the opposing team to under 6 runs we have a chance” – we have been saved this year so far by the BP – this is very unusual for the Phillies.
We need someone to light the fire. Like I said in an earlier post – wouldn’t Rowand be a sweet addition batting behind Burrell?
July 8th, 2008 at 9:52 am
We aren’t overrated, we’re underachieving.
July 8th, 2008 at 9:53 am
Adam Eaton has allowed (not inlcuding errors) 168 base runners in 103 innings pitched. Nearly 2 base runners per inning!!! That is a major recipe for trouble.

Well, the Giants are good but I’m not really afraid of the Jets, Knicks, Yankees, or Mets. The only thing those teams dominate is last place in their respective divisions and running a train on nyc pimpdaddy’s sister. I guess its not that big a deal since “nyc pimp daddy” is really a “bayonne mom’s basement”
July 8th, 2008 at 10:03 am
Theyre underachieving too. But still overrated.
July 8th, 2008 at 10:13 am
humina…
Here is some of what looks like for the books;
Rollins – .217
Victorino – .235
Utley – .266
Howard – .234
Burrell – .256
Werth – .277
Feliz – .250
Coste – .267 (2 for 16 in July so far, a .125 ba)
And the fan favorite – Carlos Ruuizzz – .178 for the entire month of June.
How many people are actually a little pumped by how the game finished up last night? How many games have the Phils come back to win this year after giving up an 8 spot (or close to it)?
July 8th, 2008 at 10:13 am
Err ahh.. those stats are for the month of June…

I betThe Phillies are going to be out of first place by the All-Star break. Last season was just a gift (thanks, Mets) and this season is merely a tease. We are just not that good. Maybe next year?
