greg v,

hot and humid weather is what you get all summer, just about everywhere you go. hopefully cole can snap out of the funk, because it looks like the last few outings have been mental with him. i don't think he is injured, but you never know.

i agree with you about the rest of the pitching staff thought. moyer has to stay healthy and productive, and the rest of the guys just have to keep it to less than 5 runs per start. i wouldnt mind locking up moyer for another year or two if possible.

if hamels is injured for any significant length of time then the phillies deserved it because of the bad karma they generated by arrogantly failing to get the elite SP they needed. yes, thats karma coming back to bite them in the ass.

i hope hamels is healthy otherwise theyre going to waiver-trade for bronson arroyo, just watch.

KM,

One thing I noticed with Hamels, if he has a bad start he ususally has another one. Then he's his old self again. It's a little more worrisome because they were both extra piss poor starts from him these past two. I'm not worried really. When it's hot and humid, it's really not pitching weather. As good as Lohse was, it was getting the better of him too. Sometimes you just have to suck these outings up.

My thoughts are, he'll be fine. He is without a doubt the ace of our staff. I just hope Moyer stays healthy and the the rest of the rotation keeps us in the game.

Hey David, I noticed in your question about who's watching/listening to the Phillies game and where, you asked if anyone bought the comcast channel on their satellite. We have DirecTV satellite, but also have to carry our local Blue Ridge cable up here in Lancaster county just to get Comcast for Phillies, Flyers, Eagles postgame, etc. Didn't think it was possible to get this channel on satellite. If it is , we could save 45 bucks or so a month, so if you know please post.

The upside is that we play the Nationals 9 more times! That, I like. In the end, though, we still need to beat good teams. Right now, we just aren't doing enough of that.

The Mets and the Marlins have enough talent and flaws which is why the three teams are so bunched together. Each team gives you flashes of brilliance and then maddening failure.

David,

Look at the Cubs rotation:

Zambrano, Dempster, Harden and Lilly.

I would take Harden and Zambrano over any of our pitchers. SO yes, I think the Cubs are clearly the best team in the national league.

The Phillies' offense is too inconsistent. Sure the pitching is mediocre, yes the bullpen is fantastic, but too many strikeouts and not enough productive outs which has been pointed out on this sight many times.
